I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me out with some measurements? I am looking at mid rise canopies ie. ARE MX, Leer 180 etc but am having a lot of difficulty getting interior measurements. Specifically height. I need to know how many and what size dog crates I can stack in the bed. I'd love the total height at the front of the bed (cab end) and where the lowest points are. Any help would be much appreciated!

The wife and I are going to start a family, so we are completely redoing our fleet. The taco, our 2 door civic(145k miles) and our single cab powerstroke are all getting sold. We've already bought a 4 door powerstroke, and some people are coming to look at the civic tonight. The wife and future crib midget need a good reliable car. I should have a few dollars left after its all said and done to buy something to wheel. It might not be pretty though, I am looking at older toyota pickups and 4runners. If I can find a first gen for a good price I might snag it, but I kind of want something with a solid front axle.

New to forum. New to Tacomas. I found a used Leer cap with all the bells and whistles. "She Who Must be Obeyed" likes the look of the black cap on the pyrite truck. So I guess it won't get painted...

Question regarding the above Tacoma with cap. Has anyone used a toolbox inside the cap? Will a toolbox even fit?

Depends on how the toolbox mounts, and how the truck cap is formed. There is no universal standard for the truck cap manufacturers, they all do things a little differently. I would say, no, unless the toolboox mounts to the floor, and does not impede the space above the bed rails. I am speculating though... I've never owned a truck toolbox. :D

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
you could buy a chest style to fit between the wheel wells and work. what i ended up doing was taking my low profile/low width tool box and having the wings that go over the rails cut off. now it sits on the bed like a chest style and didnt cost me anything.

I think the UWS 42" chest will fit but the lid may not open fully with a cab height cap

I have a 48 gallon Rubbermaid Action Packers. Fits great and the lid opens all the way.

Had a UWS box on the truck before I got the cap and I couldn't even get it to sit on the rails inside of the cap.

I think the solid window is bolted in iirc. Should be possible. I would guess all the fiberglass portion of the caps are universal then the different windows and options are added.
