Short time owner - Stolen within 72 hours - SOCAL

Hello there tacolovers. Active duty Marine here stationed at Camp Pendleton, I spent my memorial day 96 on my way to and from Twin Falls Idaho to do some BASE jumping and purchased a barely used 2013 Tacoma on Saturday. In Idaho the seller keeps the plates and the buyer can't drive it until they bring the title to the DMV and get temp and permanent plates. I got home just before midnight memorial day and parked in front of my house in San Clemente, Ca. When I went to grab my glasses out of my new whip, I discovered between midnight and 9:30am my truck had already been stolen. From the whole 48 hours I had the thing I liked what I saw. I'm doing what little I can to get the truck back and figured I might as well put out an impromptu APB for fellow taco people. Every Tacoma I see drive by I keep thinking is my truck and figured maybe if I threw a couple pictures out in cyberspace it's better than doing nothing. She was taken with 3001 miles on her. She could be chopped into a hundred pieces, under a tarp in a garage, half way to South America or upside down in a ditch at this point. But if you notice a beautiful black Tacoma in any of the days to follow that fits this description contact your local police department. If they're driving it and smart they will have stolen another Taco owners front plate and placed it on the rear of mine.

I'll be posting this in the southern CA section as well. If a mod or anyone deems this the wrong place to put this please let me know, or has any other idea where I could get the most attention I'm all ears. I'm certainly not going anywhere.

 

Man I'm sorry to hear about that, damn thieves. My buddies Jeep got stolen off base in National City last week. I hope those dudes get caught. I'll keep a lookout for ya buddy. Good luck.

Thats a bummer. Good thing is the book value on these is super inflated, so you should be able to buy new for the amount insurance gives you. With a little bit of haggling of course.

Just a thought, but if it was parked without plates on a public street, it might have just been towed. Have you been in contact with state and local PD impounds to make sure they don't have it locked up somewhere? Anyways, good luck, that's pretty crappy!

Sorry about the loss, but def check out the impound lots. No plates might have caused it to be towed as said by ^^^^ another member.

Please call the OC Sheriff and ask about your truck being towed. They don't mess around in San Clemente - I have lived here for 6 years and they are sticklers for parking violations.

 

Contacted the local sheriff's office before I got home and told them the truck would be on the street for two nights before I could store it in the driveway. I assumed it was towed but after talking to the departments dispatch its definitely stolen. In two weeks if it doesn't show then we start talking reimbursement. San Clemente is nice, and exactly the reason some mouth breathing sh*t stains coming looking for someone else's hard work to walk away with.

In the end, it's just an item,a thing. Beautiful day out here with my girl so I can't really complain.

Sheriff just called me, truck located, dropping off the keys at the so they can take it in to forensics and finger print it. Those sadistic thieves planted the car in a Mexican neighborhood....the perfect crime.....

 

Hope she is in good shape, sorry all this happened, but glad it has been found!

 

that is good they found it man! hopefully it is in good shape and nothing is broken.
