They coated anything that was easily accessible with a sticky rust resistant compound. Inside the frame was treated with a paraffin formula. Will grab pics tonight. I would say that where they applied it, it looks like a nice thick, sticky application. However, there are areas that I can see that were not so easy to reach that were not treated, like in certain spots along the top of the frame. See attached pic for a pamphlet left in car. I asked service rep if they would reapply if it rusted again, and she said yes. however, this is just her opinion.

Compound still very wet. It is a very cold and damp day in Boston...
Please note I posted where they applied compound and where they didn't...

Great job at achieving nothing but a frame that is visually black in a majority of places.

Problem is that they cannot access is where the moisture/dirt/salt sits and causes rust in all honesty. The boxed sections of the frame and sections of the frame tight to the body or the bed. Which is exactly where the frame are rusting through.

I will ask my toyo tech buddy if they are supposed to remove the bed for this campaign.

I know on previous vehicle campaigns it was proper procedure to remove the bed but this did not always happen since they techs want the job done so they can get on to the next one and make more money.

That truck in the pics is a piss poor job, if you ask me. I would not have been happy if that was my truck.

The more critical application would be the paraffin wax in the boxed sections of the frame. Got any pictures of that?

Wow! I don't know if I should be happy they're trying or sad at the job they did. I am about to order an OME complete lift... If this had been installed before I let them go at the frame, I'd be VERY PI$$ED! Since all my stuff will be coming off, I can live with it.

Sad thing is, if we do not comply and the frame rots through, they will DEFINITELY refuse to replace the frame later. Damned either way....

Hmmm, and I guess there is no salt if you live near the Gulf coast.

After a chance call to the dealership were I bought my Tacoma to discuss the email conversation with Toyota about Iowa's exclusion from the limited service campaign I was invited to have my frame inspected tomorrow by a Toyota rep who will be at the dealership inpecting several other gen2's. I was told that if the frame is "junk" they will be able to do something but will not be able to apply the CRC that is being provided to those in the covered states.

Not hoping for much but at least they are willing to look.

I brought in my 03 for a frame replacement in mid October and got it back mid January. Yes, they gave my a rental. It cost Toyota over $13,000 to replace the frame on an $8000 truck.

I am very curious what the requirements are for the Toyo tech. What are they supposed to cover with the compound and what should not be covered? Should the bed be removed? Should the front and rear frame connectors be covered? lj973gm, let us know what you find out.

I will attempt to get pics on Saturday of where the paraffin was applied inside the frame.

Just got back from Bill Dube Toyota here in Dover, NH. My frame passed inspection and will be undercoated. They said it will take 4 - 8 weeks to get the kit delivered to them. They will have my truck for 3 days & provide a car to use. I asked them to explain what they intend to do.

The service manager told me that will take the bed off, descale and clean the entire frame then coat it with the kit. The boxed sections, as stated above, will be sprayed with the paraffin-based coating. He also explained the dripping, cleaning off the driveway, smells associated with this etc.... He explained that this is for the "frame only" and doesn't cover anything bolted to the frame, only what is welded to the frame.

I expressed my concerns about the overspray onto other components like coil springs, shocks, etc... I was about to order the complete OME 3" lift kit and custom SS brake lines and intended to install all of this in the next 30 days, but now I'm going to wait until after they are done.

I'm still considering selling the truck in the spring rather than put money into it and getting the new TRD Pro that will be out for 2015. Weighing the difference between what I want to spend on this truck vs what I could sell this for and the balance I'd have to finance on the Pro. It's close.....

    Christ, what a half-assed job...
    That's some skills there.
OP, did they descale your frame? Doesn't appear so. What's it smell like, tar? It looks like bitithumin(sp?) a brushable tar like coating I've put on underground pipes to keep them from rotting.
