That's a Hougen mag drill, from work also. I'ts not as precise as it was brand new but still does the job.

 

I thought about doing it the old fashion way but that drill was telling me to take him home from work..........and I was thinking about all of you guy's horror stories of hand drilling the frame.

 

Just don't start going around telling everyone the install was cake.. lol..

 

The drill is super heavy. We have a safety chain to tie it off to when drilling upside down.
The drill was already having a hard time hanging on to the square tubing because of the thin walls. I think the walls have to be like 3/8" to get the magnet grabbing hard.

 

I never want to drive in that "mud" ever again. It's half salt, and half primordial ooze. I'm assuming peacock flats mud is more like real mud?

I'd say just as much sag, but with a more interesting geometry in the sag. Just don't squeeze too hard, or pop goes da weasel..

Hougens are good. Might just have to adjust the gib screws. And heavy? that one looks tiny. You should see the monsters we gotta lug around the ship! up and down escape trunks and into bilges and tanks
We have a few that has to be over 100lbs...

This is the ones we use. We have smaller, but this one is more solid and has the variable speed. Smaller ones is just on or off. specs say 70lbs, but that has to be a lie...

Holy shit. The drill I was using weighs around 40-50 lbs. If the drill was any heavier our guys at work wouldn't use um. Lol. That 100 lb drill would be collecting dust at my workplace.

Did you get any real damage?

 

Drive shaft spun on the boulders. Taking it to Driveline Componets on Monday for a new shaft body.

 

Damn, could have been worse though.

 

And the "Boobs" win by a landslide vote...
