Broke my Spidertrax Wheel Spacers!!!

    Has this happened to anyone with these wheel spacers.
    I was tightening one of the lugnuts to the stud that is preinstalled on the wheel spacer and it wasnt really getting tight so i kept tightening it and the stud actually broke and is now stuck in my factory lugnut!!!
    Take a look at it!
    I tried to call spidertrax but they were already closed.
    I called the shop that i bought it from and they told me it was unlikely that spidertrax would send me a new one...

    He has never heard of anyone breaking it like that....

    What do you guys think?

    I think you need to use a torque wrench next time and not go by feel...

    I know...but the thing is it really didnt feel like it was getting any tighter!

    cause i actually put the rears on with no problems and once i got to the front this happened!

    You must have ate some spinach on that one stud lol!!!

    All jokes aside, I'm sure you could get a replacement stud from the company, yes?

    Then use a screw extractor for the stud stuck in your lug nut :thumbsup:

    Dude, that sucks to hear. Especially since i bought my spidertrax also, but haven't put em on yet cuz i dont have my camburg spindles. But that scares me. Are you sure you didn't misthread?

    And i agree with everyone else about torque wrenches.

    I have them and used a torque wrench 70-80ft lbs spec. No issues

    I agree with the masses, torque wrenches are designed for a reason, and you have to follow specs. Most part failures are due to not following specs and measurements and then...snap, something breaks, bends, or pops. I think spidertrax will help you out but invest in a torque wrench to prevent this from happening again with a more expensive part!

    I have no idea...never really used a torque wrench when i worked on my car/trucks.

    always just went by feel...
    I was confused because i installed the rear spacers ok!
    the front just didnt feel like it was getting any tighter for some reason:eek:

    I've always used the 4 way lug nut wrench!

    FWIW, You should be able to bress out the broken stud, and get a replacement at a NAPA, or other auto part store nearby. Replacement lugs should be easy to find as well.

    Don't waste your time or money messing around with spidertrax. First, press out the old stud (you might possibly need a small press, but a vise would most likely suffice if used properly) and then get a replacement at your local auto parts store. If you cant get the particular stud at your local parts store, order one.
