2000lbs of river rock in bed?

These trucks are not made to carry 2000 lbs. The gen 2 are rated as 1/2 ton trucks, but they can not carry 1000 lbs safely. If it was my truck, i would split the load and make 2 trips. Drive slowly esp. Around turns, and leave more room during breaking. Good luck and keep us updated with some pics.

 

I cracked the bed of my truck when I rode my snowmobile in the bed and the skis jammed between the wheel wells instead of riding over the top of one of the wells like my last truck did. Surprised it didn't break the A-arms on my sled first, but it is what it is. Crack is barely noticeable but made a horrific noise. Just food for thought here.

I would not, I saw a guy in a F150 a few years ago on the interstate,
It was obvious that he was way overloaded.

He hit a dip in the road and the bed of the truck sat down on his tires.
Both tires blew out and he destroyed his rims, he was lucky he didn't destroy the entire truck.
Make two trips.

 

I've been getting a yard (2 scoops) of Ogogrow for my back yard from the dump over the past couple of days.

The scale said it was 520kg's or 1,146lb's which I think is within spec. I had probably 0.5 inch between the top leaf and the bump stops.

I've got a set of Wheeler's Heavy Duty progressive AAL in my garage that I haven't had a chance to install yet. I'll be doing it this weekend for sure. Will be interested to see what the truck looks like with the AAL's in and a yard in bed...

Don't believe that your payload is 1650 Mine is 1100 and I have a DCSB 4X4. Check the sticker inside the drivers door for the specific payload for your truck.

 

Get it delivered for one reason. I may be a mo', but unloading any type of aggregate from the bed of the truck, much less alone 1 ton of rock is a real back breaker IMHO. Up and down, up and down, all day long is tiring. Much easier to have the guys deliver it then shovel and wheelbarrow it away. Might be in the minority with that, but it sucked having to unload two yards of moist mulch out of the back of my bed. But it was cool to take advantage of the bed for once!

 

I've rented and will rent a uhaul trailer because or this.

 

Not saying it was smart, but the first "truck" use my '14 saw was 3 40-mile trips loaded down with 3/4 of a yard of organic garden soil. I drove like a granny on Sunday afternoon, but I've had no issues. And it was dumped into the bed by a front-loader whose driver was NOT very delicate.

I dunno, maybe I got lucky. But probably I should've been smarter!

 

Prior to my Tacoma, the last pickup I owned was about 20 years ago. For that reason, I've had no choice but to have stuff like mulch, topsoil, stones, and firewood delivered for a long time.

Right after I bought my Tacoma in October, I needed firewood. Since I had the truck, I figured I'd go pick it up myself and save $50. Last time I'll do that.

It's just simply not worth the risk of damage to the truck, nor the hassle, just to save a couple bucks.

The wheelers HD will be better, but with 1000lbs in the bed you will still be hitting the bump stops a lot.

Nah, I had the Icon 3-leaf AAL (basically the same as the Wheeler's non-HD progressive AAL) with over 1,000 lbs in the bed and was not on the bumps.

 

Sticker on the door says how many passengers there should be and weight with cargo and passengers should not exceed 1050lbs. This is just in the cab right? I easily had 1500 lbs in the bed when hauling materials to build my paver patio.

i hand loaded the pavers and bags of gravel and sand. a second trip for more bags of gravel and sand followed.

 

I would never have a loader dump a load of river rocks into a truck bed unless I wanted my truck to look like a piece of shit and leaf springs to snap...

 

Daks FTW! I'm itching to try out my new ones, but now with some stupid, heavy load. No need to break the truck.

 

Did you hit them at all? Over speedbumps or anything?
