    Hi

I have a 2013 Tacoma SR5 and find myself hauling a lot of rock lately. The current capacity is 1425 lbs. Are there any avenues available to bump that up?

    Thanks!

Hadn't considered that. Are air bags deflatable when not needed? --Ben

You can't increase the payload but you can improve how the truck handles the weight with better leafs or air bags. If you constantly overload the truck, you're going to wear other parts out. It's more than just the suspension that is taken into consideration when calculating payload.

And yes, airbags can be inflated/deflated according to needs.

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
    THIS!

other stuff to take into account for the pay load limit it, power/ drive line(trans, drive shafts, gears, axle seals, everything do to with the the drive line) brake size, the strength of the frame, the strength of the bed.

You can only change how the truck will handle a load, not increase what it can haul/tow.

I like my Timbrens, but the way you are going to get the most payload capacity is to buy a trailer that has the capacity you need. You can pull allot more than you can load in the truck...

Yes, that is certainly a good way to go rather than diddling with the truck and potentially messing it up. Trailers are cheap... Thanks! --Ben

So I did a lot of research here on the forum and decided to buy the Timbrens for my truck. I was undecided about them until this weekend. I hauled about 450lbs of water in the back of the truck up and down logging roads and down the highway. They performed awesome on both surfaces and I would recommend them to anyone.

interesting, never saw timbrens before. seems like it would help.

you should still get stronger leaf springs, no? they allow for more weight, but do keep in mind all the other components are not made for that much weight, take it easy.

I have heard the springs are not the best but isn't the payload capacity around 1200lbs. The Timbrens act like an airbag once they engage the frame with load....they still give some.

Added 4/1/15: So several trips with the timbrens towing my 4.5 to 5K trailer and they seem to work really well. They give some play when needed but don't let me look a pogo stick going down the road. I am very happy with them. I know they are not for everyone, but these are working for now.

Full OME suspension with Dakar leaf springs in the back and Firestone ride rite airbags. It might not be the safest, and the truck might suffer under the load, but you'll be able to load it up way more than your suppose to and still have a nice plush ride without bottoming.

BTW, that's the setup I have on my 2012 DCLB which I have abused for about 24K miles.

Why would you have Dakars and airbags ?

Got the bed and cab loaded with rocks and equipment as well. Not to mention hi-speed runs on forestry roads (sometimes 100 miles a day). Dakars were constantly bottoming out in deep ruts. Air bags helped quite a bit.

you mean there is more to payload support than just it squatting and looking dumb?
