Crappy phone pic driving back from the Syllamo's Revenge 50 mile MTB race near Mountain View, AR. Didn't race, but rode some of the trail. It was a mudfest, lots of bike casualties, but fun. Foggy morning heading home, really cool driving those mountain roads.

Went through some campground that was below the Bristle cone Pine forest that had nice small trails out to the middle of nowhere that was really cool! Only have video of that.

This was the only photo I took from that trail, the yellow flowers on the rocks caught my eye so I stopped long enough to take this:

That is coming down the trail behind the visitor's center. If you're coming from the north, you basically turn left in Bishop, follow Silver Canyon to the top. There are a couple of spots 4WD helps but you could probably pre-runner it up there-travel with someone else too.

The ABPF is such a cool place.

I think I saw that like a 15 mile drive down into Bishop? I was solo so stayed on the easy stuff this trip! One said 4x4 recommended, but the other did not, but no sign as to which road was which.

Yes, it goes down through Silver Canyon to a residential area and into Bishop.

Google would route you this way which is mostly paved. This is the Silver Canyon Route.

i think as long as the road is in good condition, you should be fine and if you do want to try it, go with someone who has 4wd. There might be a spot or two that benefits with a locker or posi though.

Thank you very much, I will have to give it a try, really would be nice to have a true locked dif, the LSD has come handy, but not the same, so I have kept it simple and still enjoyed some amazing scenery!

I would not advise you take Silver Canyon Rd if you don't have 4x4. There are some fairly steep rocky narrow sections on that trail which could be a problem. Big sign at the top:

    DSC04881_7723b7070335a2dd32e8aa5880a45b4acc0bab4b.jpg

    and another sign:

I explored that area in the summer of 2011. Beautiful area!
