I'd vote hawaii, but since you said you don't have money, scratch that off the list.

There will be something negative anywhere you go, and it may be different for different people. My criteria is as long as I don't have to dig my way out of snow during winter, the place is good. So if you are even considering wyoming, nebraska, canada, etc where there are tons of snow, I will suggest don't. I would only consider living in such a place if I was born and raised in such a place. But even so, I've talked to many people who said they were born and raised in those heavy snow places and said they do not want to live there (and guess where they moved to? California).

There is a reason why lots of people move into and live in California. And of course the survival of the fittest will weed out and make those who does not fit leave.

    Arizona!

We have deserts, mountains and everything else. 60 degrees in phx in the winter and you can go skiing just 2 hours away in Flag. We're close to Vegas and Cali too so weekend and vacation trips are easy :)

The downfall is our heat...its not for the faint of heart!

There are NO brown bears in NH... lol! Only black bears. And yes, they can kill a person, but it's typically a mother bear when you get between her and a cub.

Grew up in Sacramento (sucks IMO). Taxes, housing cost, people, and a lot of commuting to the San Francisco area for construction work.
Lived in northern WY for a year. Great area, but the winters are too long.
Now living near Charlotte, NC. Love it here, but too many people. It's too hard to completely get away. If I ever move again, I'll most likely be in the Reno, NV area.
All areas have pro's and con's.

Where I grew up in central Maine was on a game preserve. We had black bears in our back yard apple tree often. We knew not to get between mother and cubs, but we did go chase them off often because we didn't feel comfortable getting into the pool with them so close. Black bears are generally very scared of humans and will run almost every time.

I worry more about moose. They don't respond to humans and will stand their ground. They have been known to charge and can trample a person quickly. This and their freakin' eyes do not reflect light so you don't know one is in the road until you've hit them in the dead of night!
