Home built full skids. Home built front bumper. Plasti'd badges. Energy Susp. steering rack bushings. Sway bar delete. Deck plate mod. aFe Pro-Dry. Gibson exhaust.

    If you could try to taper it in closer to the headlight/corner that might help a bit. Also, having vertical plate only on the center 3-piece might help. I didn't do the 45*angled top piece and i didn't have need to fit a winch but. Here. hopefully it helps. I can grab a top view later today and PM you if you'd like.

    Complete OME kit w/ 881's and dakars. All-Pro Sliders, CB, HAM Radio and various other minor stuff.
    Came up with a way to add retension points to the rear tailgate. With the tailgate protector and cover plate off, remove the square nylon nuts and install rivet nuts. Then reassemble and screw small D-rings to the tailgate protector using the exposed screws. I costed it out to $20. Unfortunetly, I don't have the rivet tool so the project is on hold. It should be plenty strong enough to hold jerry cans.

    i forget who makes it but i feel like I've seen aluminum somewhere. If your actually going to use it than id be hesitant to go with aluminum. If your not a rock crawler than you might not need full skids/trany skid.. An extra 20 - 40 lbs won't make much of a difference in MPG i don't think. The stock skid probably weighs like 20 - 30 lbs just by it self.

    BudBuilt gives the option of aluminium.

    Also 1/8" steel.

    If you aren't crawling, either will work fine. Aluminium is softer and will gouge up easier. The 1/8" won't hold up to much impact but will work better than stock.

    Alu skids (1/4" compared to 3/16" for the steel) from Bud run $300 more than the steel.

    Whenever I had my Bud skids on I bent and beat the shit out of them and I didn't do any hardcore stuff either. I'd definitely recommend steel and reinforce the belly pan with angle iron before it gets bent up.
