What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

It's all good. As for fuel economy I try to manage it in a reasonable way, but I drive a truck so it's not worth worrying about it. I'm generally about 18-19mpg which I won't complain about given it's a heavy truck with larger tires.

 

Sheesh... that's not what I was thinking.

I thought you were more in the 14 range.

18-19 is just a tad lower than what I get bone stock (lest sliders).

it isn't so much as making math hard, it is that people think the math required to account for ratio changes is hard and is usually criticized as being done wrong and accusations are made regarding the invalidity of the mpg's some people claim.

I, however, firmly believe that mistakes in computing mpg has nothing to do with math being hard but instead that NM has shitty gas and AZ and CO have awesome gas. I get approximately 17mpg at home but when I go on out-of-state road trips it pops back up into the 19-20mpg range.

My last point does not actually follow, logically. I put it out there as a non-sequitur in an attempt to obfuscate and confuse.

 

Actually, the LED bolts were used for the license plate lights. I used a pair of 3/4" amber LEDs that pressed into a 3/4" hole in the front bumper for turn signals. I really didn't like them and were considered a stop-gap until I could do the relocation. While they are legal in NM (visible at 100ft in daylight) I always felt with some motorists' reactions that they weren't obvious.

To this day, I still don't understand why Toyota didn't put the turn signals in the corner lights from the get-go.

lol I averaged about 19mpg in new mexico mostly highway.

I got about 17mpg this winter in ohio 90% highway but it's jumped up to 19mpg now that they switched to summer fuel. I guess ohio and NM have bad gas.

Best I've seen was in Oklahoma, they have tons of ethanol free stations so I got about 21 mpg with that stuff 100% highway.

 

Well, you're better off than NM still. We seem to have shitty gas year round.

 

There are a couple stations in ABQ that serve ethanol free up. They are too out of my way to be useful though.
