    If I had any mods, I would be so eager to install that I might not be able to wait for a mod day. If others have stuff to put together, I would be happy to host, pending it doesn't interfere with sister in laws wedding in July, or go to drink beer and turn a wrench at somebody else's place.

    Yea if you have some brake cleaner and some nice rags that don't leave a bunch of fuzz then you just wipe it down good and be fine.

    It usually is the inners when high axle angles are the root cause of the tear in the boot. Sure, there are exceptions but almost always the inner that goes first. If you look at the design of the boot, you can see why.

    Mmmm I disagree. The inners have less fins. Outers have lots of fins that rub and touch more. My outers went on my last set.

    I'm just going by the boot design and of course my own experience with the damned things as well as what I read.

    I have never <knocks on wood> torn a boot but both my inners have a wear groove at the same spot. Outers are pristine. Pretty amazing for 135K with a significant amount off pavement.

    IMO, the curved face of the fins on the outer make it less likely for the fins to touch, even at higher axle angles. The inners don't have that advantage.

    The outer boots on my oem axles look perfectly fine whereas my inner boots are trashed FWIW...
