Going to the gym shouldn't have a season, fitness shouldn't have a season. You hit the iron or you don't, you fitness or you don't.

    Plain and simple.

Well if you are competing/it is your career I can definitely see a reason for changing up the pace at different times of the year. Obviously the guy knows what he's doing. I don't think it has to be black or white, there is heavy training and light training/maintenance. Not that I know very much about all that, though.

If you were referring to my couch comment though, I encourage you to take on a 5 year degree in 8 semesters with a job and go home every weekend. Yes, there is an off season.

Off season doesn't mean stop working out for most athletes. Still don't know if you were referring to me or not but if it was to that guy pictured before, his off season obviously does not mean stop working out... Because he is working out. Just differently.

Normal people like us who work out for general fitness and not for competition don't need an off season because... We just don't. Couching for us would mean probably never seeing any gains.

So after stuffing my face for about 14 weeks now I have come to a conclusion..... my scale is wrong.

Just used the scale aty brothers gym and says 173...13lbs more than the scale the nutritionist was using.

And I will tell you one thing. It sure as hell isn't a sexy 13lbs.

I don't know of any sport where you stop working in the off-season. Baseball/football/etc. players all still work in the off-season, it just simply means you don't have to eat as strict and train less frequently (like going from 6 days in the gym a week to 4). I never plan to compete, but I never plan to have an off-season either. Each week, I try to surpass last week's performance, no matter what.
