Most crime is local. If you got a good look at the van in the video, it might be worth your while to drive around the area looking for that van. If there are nearby warehouse or shop areas, look in their lots. (If you find it, call the cops, don't do it yourself.) Also, keep an eye on Craigslist. You'd be surprised how much stolen stuff gets fenced on there. Good luck to you. Glad your family and your pooch are OK.

Awesome experience with USAA. They do take care of their customers. I got a check for my truck in less then a 4 days but then again it was in a minor rear end collision. They even got the other guy's insurance to pay for my deductibles too.

I'd keep an eye out for parts of your truck showing up on Ebay and Craigslist. A friend of mine got a stolen motorcycle back that way.

I'm curious also how they got it started without the chip in the key.

I had a close call with one of my Chevy trucks, they twisted the lock in the door skin, smashed the column, but couldn't get it started because of a $2 kill switch that I installed :)

A co-worker had a truck stolen. USAA's policy, at least in Texas, is after 21 days they will write the truck off if it isn't found. USAA's always been good to me.

USAA is kick ass. If you have receipts and shit for your parts you can at least try to get USAA to comp you on the cost of those as well... worst case scenario, they say "no, but here's the check for the truck itself." If you have the paperwork, it's worth a shot.

Allstate told me they cover all modifications without having to inform them first. The guy said my "upgraded suspension, off road bumpers, and other upgrades are covered under all of our policy choices."

    USAA may do the same.

With posts like this, I really want to do that build I saw on manswers. Freaking place flamethrowers right under the door that is triggered by a break in. Roast that loser. It'll remind them not to come near my Tacoma.

    SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the pros can get around the engine immobilizer system. But in my area, most vehicles are stolen with the keys in them.

Also, as other have stated.. maybe someone towed it away?

Your also SOL on any aftermarket parts. Unless you pay extra on your insurance, you will get NOTHING back.

I've never had this happen to me (knock on wood,) but I also installed an aftermarket alarm system. The nice blinking blue LED is enough to stop them and they move on to another easy target. My alarm also measures air pressure in the cab. So if someone is slick enough to get the back glass out without setting off the motion detection, as soon as the air pressure changes... it will go off.

Again.... Looked like a sweet ride and sorry for folks that "pay their way" getting screwed again.

Damn, that fuckin sucks! I'm from Alameda and have seen your truck once or twice in the past. I'll def keep my eye out. What restaurant were you at? Pm me if you don't wanna blow em up, but I'll prob stay away from there for awhile. Also let me know everything you can about the black van, I'll look for those fuckers too.

I have USAA and while I've never dealt with a stolen vehicle, they have been fantastic for everything else, including two not-at-fault claims. I don't think I'd want any other company backing me up.

Keep your chin up and best of luck to you. Funny about your dog, mine is with me almost everywhere, windows are always at least cracked. If the thieves brought any kind of snack, she'd prob unlock it for them. Material things can be replaced.

Better lick your wounds and look for a new one. Least you got a darn good excuse. I don't
know why they can't make a lock that the thieves can't break in so easy. Had that happen on my 150 but something scared em off and didn't steal it. I filled the lock in with jb weld, sanded it and painted it black to match the door handle. Problem solved.

I posted a link that it could be. There's some red flags with the post.
