Pretty much what i did, but with loctite, i smothered the thing with it.

Never thought about that. The real minis should have metal and the knock off ones they sell for 45 should have plastic. That would be sweet

How is the JB weld holding up? Did you use the Steel Stik stuff? I noticed some folks choose to bolt it in... this seems like that would complicate the aiming process since bolting is a bit less forgiving. What type of sealant did you use to fill in the gaps between projector/reflector?

JB weld is still holding up just fine :)

Looking into using bolts for future retrofits to cut costs down and hopefully provide a better solution

So I just scratched up my shrouds and reflector bowl with 150grit sandpaper. I didn't take it down to bare plastic, I just did it enough to give the adhesion-promoter something to stick to. Should I start over or should they be fine?

Also, how do you get the glass lens off of the projector housing so I can get to the piece that needs to be painted for demon eyes? (post #223, up in the top left) It looks to me like the metal has been bent into place.

You are correct with getting the lense off, they have a thin piece of metal holding the lens in. be careful taking it off and take your time. and with the bowl and shroud, your good prime them up and let cure and put your coat of selected color on them

The primer said put on the color paint within 10mins, so I did. 2-3 coats of adhesion promoter then 2-3 coats of Krylon Fusion. But I definitely plan on letting everything I painted cure for about 5 days or so, to offgas and all that stuff I'd like to avoid.

To be honest, I'm so stressed from the rest of the retro that I probably won't take the lens off. Now that I think about it... I have no idea how to bend it back into place once I get it off!

A flat tip screw driver worked for me.

Lmao. fix ya right. If your to nervous for the task, then don't bother. Don't want to mess up and be like shit I shouldnt have done it. Plus if you do it clean out all the dust and particles as you can. I live in a sandy hell and can see particles on my lenses at night ( so much hate for New Mexico)

when I had the lens retainer off, to do the demon eyes, I also gave the retainer a couple of coats of paint. A nice little touch IMHO.

How could anyone see it? It sits behind the shroud.

Maybe yours is different. My shroud covers everything but the glass.
