Hey, guys. I bought myself a Home Depot Lincoln 180 HD for learning purposes. I'm very new to the practice and could use a pointer as to which flux-core wire I should use since I've depleted my stock of the 1 pound wire it came with in just two days :) I don't have any cylinders yet which is why I'm currently doing flux-core. I heard Hobart and U.S. Forge make some decent wire. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Thanks, Eddy. Do you find any advantages or disadvantages over the stock the Lincoln NR-211? I hear the NR-211 is a little more on the messy/spattery side, but I don't really know what is considered messy as this is my first spool of wire.

    Look at build!
x2 same wire I use as well!
I like it better than the Lincoln wire and its cheaper too!
Set up an account with Prax to get a cylinder, you like learning with gas more than Flux alone

I know most of you guys MIG weld as a hobby but for those of you who have worked in the field and more specifically to nuclear standards I need some advice on stainless.

I spent 2 years at a tech school and only touched carbon. I graduated a month ago and realized pretty quick that to do the type of work I wanted to I needed more training and alot more arc time than I was getting. I've been at a local union hall for the last 2 weeks and they put me on some 3" schedule 10 stainless. Real thin stuff. I'm running 1/8 gap and 1/8 filler on a 37.5 degree bevel. Basically just a root and a cap. I'm having trouble blending my root into my tacks and putting the tacks in in general. On thicker carbon I could always pull my puddle out onto the bevel and not leave a fish eye or a knot. Thats impossible on this stuff and I'm getting frustrated. My technique has improved and my root comes out really nice except for my tacks and the occasional keyhole from a bad tungsten angle. Any advice on how to stop and start on this stuff without being able to tell?

Figure I will give everyone here first crack at all this.

All of this is brand new with the only sign of wear is some marks on all the nuts from me fitting everything together. I bought it right after school with the hopes of going out and doing boiler tubes but that fell through. All of the items have been kept indoor since I bought them a year ago.

I use Lincolns NR211, runs the best in my Hobart 190. I've tried Forney and Harbor freight both of which are awful. Haven't tried anything else
