How do you think aluminum skids would work in Moab? Like an aluminum flat belly set up

 

not..great..but, depends on the trails your run really.

you'll need like 1/4 or 3/8 aluminum to compete with 3/16s steel. Might as well just go steel for belly pans really.

A hit like this on aluminum im pretty sure would have cracked it depending on the type of aluminum. DOnt think i'll be taking the front skid off cuz it is likely not going back on haha.

Well I have flat belly 1/4" steel skids that weigh a ton and going LT front I want to save weight and was looking to make an aluminum flat belly set up

 

You'll just have to be careful where you push it with Al skids.

Looks like a good time. Wish I would have/could have made it. Maybe next year...I would still prefer a small group though.

 

That's exactly what I did, except I crimped mine with lugs and siliconed them up to make them waterproof.

Your door is one of the main reasons I am selling my taco. My wife would calve if I did that to my truck.

Eh, two part deal. Going to start a family, the dd is a 2 door civic with 145k on it. Great little car, but I want something better for her. And she doesnt like me wheeling the taco. I keep wanting to do moab, fordyce and rubicon, but I would need to build the taco more. So instead of doing that, I am going to buy an older pretaco or 4runner for that. And having 3 trucks doesnt make sense, so the taco is going away. It bums me out, but I hope to still be wheeling a Toyota, just something a little more vintage.

 

ahhh and that sounds like what i would do if I had to start over. Just get a dd and an older yota to build Have fun starting the family

 

Looks like your skid did a good job of protecting everything behind it.
