Nope. the crossbars are too big and it's too close to the roof. I ratchet strapped mine down before my bed rack, extremely sketch and dangerous.

Thanks. It looks like some folks have their RTT mounted on a Thule rack. Maybe I should get that rack if I plan to do this in the future.

A quality rack like zscott posted is most definitely a better solution for mounting a tent but I used Thule bars on my trailer for tent mounting for a couple years until I built the new rack. Thule bars work well. I used 2 load bars but depending on the weight you need to support 3-4 load bars might be better.

^^^^^ Everywhere I browse on here I see pictures of that trailer. I keep trying to avoid it cause I really want to build one. You need to stop tempting me.

By they way we are anxiously awaiting the review of the new tent.

It will probably be the weekend before I can take a good close look at the new tent but I'll post up some first impressions and pics as soon as I can.

Now go build a trailer. :)

Ok here are some pics of the new tent. Pretty easy setup with the open ceiling. There is a "no-see-um" mesh window that can unzip, as well as an outer canvas window. The rainfly, unclips near the outside corners and rolls up at the center of the roofline. You can open just one side of the ceiling or both. Pretty nice.

You can see both ceiling windows (mesh and canvas) rolled up to the centerline of the ceiling.

With them closed and the rainfly clipped back into place it looks/functions exactly the same as the normal Kukenam.

I'm part of the team now! No pics, but it IS strapped to the top of the rack if that counts? Haha In the box

FedEx ended up sending it to my work building on base.... Haha

A dent in one part but not bad. We'll see how bad it is when I get it open.

Except the tent is inside the bed making it difficult to zip the cover. If you have a bed rack, you wouldn't be able to fold it open. If the edge of the tent comes past the tailgate, you shouldn't have a location problem.

But why? You lose the use of the bed for your other crap.

So it's not possible to mount the tent under a bestop and fold the bestop down to set up the tent? I still haven't had a chance to try it.
