I'm sure it's somewhere in here, I'm just too busy to search. If anyone would be so kind as to direct me in the right direction? Thank you.

Fill up tank, reset trip on odometer. Drive. Next time you get gas fill all the way up. Then divide the miles driven by gallons added.

No, that's not right. That's the formula for how much a tank of fuel weighs. You're thinking of a2 + b2 = c2

Op, as has been stated, it's how many miles you've driven divided by the gallons of gas that you've used.

Not sure if this was the OP's intention, but having incorrect tires (like larger or smaller) will throw off the old-timey "calculate trip A when you fill up" formula. You basically have to account for the percentage difference in size of tire compared to the original tire. Which would basically be 2πx - 2πy (where x and y are the radii of the repective tires), then convert your difference to the correct units (miles in your case) and add that number to your original mileage shown on "trip A" and voila, you have the exact MPG your now-defunct odometer needed corrections for

    guise...

    I got this.

Take a flexible tape measure, tape to top of tire, drive 1 rotation.

    Measure total circumference of tire.

Next, drive truck desired distance BUT remember to keep track of your RPMS at all time (IE. Count no. seconds at idle, running RPMS in gear), also take note of what gear you're in and REMEMBER IT!

THEN, look up your tranny ratios.

    This is the important part.

Make an excel spreadsheet, using both the ratios, circumference, and time spent at various RPMS and in which gear, create an algorithm with VBA to calculate the number of unicorns in your tires based on the aforementioned data (did I mention you need to learn some programming for this) and...

AND DIVIDE THE NUMBER OF MILES TRAVELED ON YOUR ODO BY THE GAS YOU FILLED UP WITH.

    FFS.

trip*percentage of OE tire= adjusted difference.

The calculator on this site gives you % difference +/-

So now the OP has to divide the change in tire circumfrence over the original tire circumfrence to get the percentage. Poor bastard..

When you fill up your tank write down the number of gallons you put in your tank then reset your trip when you get empty take the number from the trip and divide by the gallons and that will tell you what your mpg is
