    Yeah.
From my experience, the entitlement culture is strong in the Seattle area. Not saying everyone is that way, just that it is a bit more pervasive there. This minimum wage thing is a good example.

The poorest minority with the highest rate of alcoholism and drug dependency seems like a winning combination for success. Especially when your stuck on a reserve. It's not a surprise the cycle keeps happening.

I think the $15 minimum wage is a reaction to all the overpaid fatcat CEOs that people read about in the news. Not that long ago CEOs only got paid several hundred thousand dollars a year, but now CEOs rake in tens of millions, which just seems obscene. The super-rich in this country have been steadily stacking the deck in their favor more and more every year and maybe the little people who actually do all the work feel like they deserve their fair share of the pie. If a company can pay its CEO tens of millions, it can afford to pay its employees a living wage regardless of their education or background.

People talk about minimum wage workers having an over-inflated sense of entitlement, well I think that applies to super-rich CEOs even more. I realize that small companies do not have rich fat-cat CEOs, but those rich fat-cat CEOs are the ones who got too greedy and ruined it for the small business owners.

They worked for there pie if they dont then the people making their pies lose there job a good business plan is to save overhead where you can so if i get people to work for a dollar so i can make 10 million dollars its a good business plan.

Love how many folks not from Seattle are experts on our local economic and social dynamics. Please folks, keep on spouting about women not having additional babies, ghettos, and other random unrelated BS as the humor is really helping me digest the whole $15/hour thing that is actually happening in my town. Keep up the good work.

Morality Honesty and Fairness are nowhere to be seen in a healthy business plan. that said i choose to buy things from people that deserve it that are not trying to make millions and putting those values into their business like 90% of the vendors here.

People discussing stuff on the internet...I know right. I also know my state gets it's share of inaccurate sentiment.

So, clue us in... Tell us your take on your town and the new minimum wage.

What I'm saying is that when you have a kid growing up in that situation you have two choices. You can pay now. Or you can pay later. Honestly, I'm really not big on welfare. I do believe in trying to give people equal opportunity.

You could fund more to give them better schooling, give them career counselling, help them deal with addiction problems and whatever else.

Or you can wait until they are another alcoholic who is just a drain on society.

What I was talking about originally economic inequality. It's not just super poor people who are getting fucked over it's the middle class of America that is consistently shrinking.

Many people with this type of opinion about CEO's have not idea what a CEO's job is. A CEO's job is to increase shareholder's wealth. This is done by improving the company's performance. Increasing revenue and keeping costs down.

Say that under a CEO's leadership his company's share price increases by $10 over a 1 year period. I'll use my company as an example, we have about 100M shares outstanding. That $10/share uptick in the stock price increased the value of the company by $1B. Our CEO earns about $5M/year all in. This means his pay is about 0.5% of the value he created for the shareholders.

Taking it one step further, assume you are a salesman for my company and you produce $1M in sales for the year. At the same rate of pay you would earn $5,000 for the year. Still think CEOs are grossly overpaid?
