Clints? Tell him to come on by, doing mods as well

I need to put in a leveling spacer on my driver side coil and some rear leaf shims and new shackles if I have time.

Cool. I just ordered my magnaflow high flow cat and muffler $165 shipped. CX headers come next check :) what are you doing for tuning again? (Aside from the AIC fueling)

Nice! You'll probably get yours installed before I can get to mine... What are your intercooler plans?

As for tuning, just the FIC, extra injectors, and AEM wideband. Building my maps currently (for lack of anything better to do). Im probably going to start with + %10 on the aux injectors every lb of boost.

I'm going to order a bunch of blue silicone couplings and various lengths of 2.5" and 3" aluminum pipe and fab up the charge pipes. Intercooler going under/behind the radiator at a 45 deg angle.
I wonder if the mapecu3 can control 6 injectors AND mod timing........ Otherwise I may copy what you are doing ;). All AEM piggies right? (2)

Yes, the Map Ecu3 can. As well as a 7th, and a long list of other things.

Not sure what the question is . The AEM FIC-6 is a piggy back yes, just have one.

I choose it because it has the same functions as the MAP ECU 3 at half the price. It has some issues with the Tacoma crank sensor but a simple resistor soldered between two of the FIC wires fixes that. Both can control up to 6 injectors.
Can the 7th controller do six injector?

Oh sorry I meant in addition to controlling 6 extra injectors, can it intercept information going to/from the stock ECU to mod stock timing?

The FIC cannot advance timing, only retard. I guess thats one the MAP ECU has over the FIC.

Yeah I've read all that... Gadget from URD mentioned in some forum I read that controlling 6 injectors uses up all of the available outputs on the unit. I don't remember if it was regarding the mapecu2 or 3... but I can't find that thread. (BTW you are my taco hero. Mad props to your build bro). Not leaning out is more of a priority for me than squeezing every bita juice out of the truck that I can through timing.
Have you you messed with import performance parts? I'm thinking about getting a kit http://www.importperformanceparts.net/imports/pek-toyota.html

MAP ECU 2 only has 4 injector channels IIRC. You can run six injectors, but you will have torun two injectors on a single channel and fire them simultaneously.

Not familiar withimportperformanceparts.net but be careful with "forged" (or"billet") parts. Being forged doesn’t always mean it’sstronger than OEM parts (and pretty much anything can be "billeted").

Ultimately it depends on the quality of metalused. High quality cast can beat low quality forged (and watch out for billeted crap). Lots of companies like to market forged/billet internals as performance parts even though they are weaker than OEM parts.

If you want to build your motor I would get some forged con rods, ARP head studs, and a new crank shaft. I believe the 3vz-fe crank shaft is a direct fit and is forged vice the 5VZ cast crank shaft.

    Rods: http://www.lceperformance.com/5VZ-Pro-Chromoly-Crossbeam-Rod-Set-p/1013011.htm
    Studs: http://www.lceperformance.com/Pro-Head-Stud-Set-5VZ-p/1024070.htm

Use some high quality FIPG material when you assemble and you should be g2g.

IPT does a majority if not all of the valve body upgrades for the 2nd Gens. As well as built some of the auto transmissions.

I had the Map-Ecu2. It does a variety of spark styles, as well as full sequential injector tuning up to 8 cylinders. Where as the 3 does 10.

It doesn't do 4 cylinder full sequential with 2 more combined in a "wasted fire" or "batch fire" configuration. That would cause problems. If it, or any other ECU, cannot do 6 cylinders + full sequential, then it will do everything as batch fire, above the number of cylinders that are full sequential. As in "4 cylinder Full Sequential, 6 & 8 batch fire.

On top of the 4,5,6,8 cylinder tuning, it has an addition AUX port for an additional injector or NOS.

Thank you for the compliment Gio.

Got it backward with the cranks man.

5vz is forged vs cast one of 3vz. 3vz guys swap in our cranks.

The guy I bought the URD port fueler had his injectors wired as 1/4, 2/5, and 3/6 to run on the ECU 2 :notsure: His primaries were not connected to the controller.
No, the 5vz is cast. The 3z-fe from the Camry (not the 3.slow) has a forged shaft:

Huh coulda swore when I found that stuff it was opposite..

And that link you posted says a 3vzfe is forged. Wouldn't make sense if a Camry one was cause the 3vzfe and 5vzfe are the same block basically. Hence compatibility. .

    Oh well. Cool cool

    Edit.

    I guess both right :p it's a 3vzfe..or 3.slow. Just Camry not truck..odd

I have a slight flicker of a memory that the 5vz era ecu is wasted spark. Which would explain that which you noticed. Which is also a drop down selection in the Map-ECU's setup.

I think that's how the URD controller works... all fire at once (batch fire ?). I have a URD AIC6 but the customer service and user friendly characteristics of the MAPecu3 is more appealing to a noob like myself. I'd like to stick with one unit but controlling 6 extra independent injectors isn't very common.

No, the 3VZ-E is the 3.slow; the 3VZ-FE is a beast (arguably the best V6 engine ever built by toyota). Even though is a VZ engine, its pretty much in a class of its own; it has very little commonality with the 3VZ-E
Im confused what we are discussing :notsure: Yes, wasted spark. But it can't run 6 additional injectors sequentiually like the MAP ECU 3 or AEM FIC 6. You will have to run the injectors in pairs.
What are you confused about? Just get a MAP ECU 3 or FIC 6. The FIC is about half the price and I can tell you exactly how to wire it up (still have all my notes and wiring schematics) as well as how to setup you tables, etc... Its actually pretty easy.

You will also need an OBDII reader (USB, bluetooth, wireless) and a computer to connect to with OBDII logging software.

Ideally you would want to do some data logging before you install the turbo but since you are tuning with aux injectors, that not quite as important.
