Yeah thats my only concern with it. Gonna just run the pre filter over it since I have the stock grille. Really imo its the only intake for 12's & up. All the others look silly the way the smog pump is relocated..

Finally got the lights complete. Totally worth the cost...

And light output over HID is much better and not blinding to others.

It seems like a lot of guys go with the FX-R and doing the cutting. I am looking at the H1 or the D2S

Yup sorry. Everyone seems to cut up the headlight rather than go with the mini. Is there a reason you chose the FX-R over the mini?

Billy, I had the MH-1s in my 96 Cummins. The light output was great, no check that - phenomenal when compared to stock, but it didn't have a lot of reach that I've read the FX-Rs have. Also the cut off was very, very sharp and wouldn't illuminate stop or street signs much, if at all. If I were to do it again, I'd consider a projector with more reach and have a bit of light bleed above the cut off just so that I would know there's a stop coming up. Something that can have OE lenses. You could always get aftermarket (or used) stock housings to do the retrofit on if cutting is a concern.

    A few things
Pre filter? Are you talking about that water proof sock? I have one of those but never used it. I heard that iyt kinda bogs a little because it blocks a lot of air. better than water though. Haha. I have driven in some pretty hard core rain here in FL and have never had any problems with it so far (1.5 yrs). Yeah it is one of (if not the) best ones out there imo.

FX-R will have a little more throw which I find important...also the pattern should be a bit wider...also good.

For the size of the housing, I wanted something that would fill it a bit more...The mini is a 2.5" and the FX-R comes in 2.5" and 3". At the end of the day, the FX-R was supposed to be a bit better, and for the insignificant price difference, I wanted the better light. Either way, if you're doing it yourself, it's gonna be a bit of work.

    Buy once, cry once.
