What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Hmm... Might get a couple of those for camp lights instead of a set of D2 floods....

 

Yeah. Any time I take pics of my lighting in the dark, I'll end up taking 50 pictures trying to get the shutter speed and ISO just right to make it look the same as my eye sees it...

D2 floods/diffused are over $300 a set...

Definitely will be doing my own harness. Especially considering I'll have the switches for them in the bed.

 

Are those on the front or rear of your truck?

 

If/when I finally come up with a good mounting plate for them anyways. I'd like to flush mount them into the sides of the rails, but that's a lot of cutting and a little too permanent in case I want to change something. Any ideas? Haha

My current bed light switch is just wedged up here






The bed rack has a hole in each corner on the gussets, so I'm probably going to mount them upside down there. Only problem is I'm not sure how odd it would look and if it would hang too far down.

 

That's pretty damn bright for one pod.

Yeah, just don't want lights hanging so slow that they interfere with my view out the back of the truck.

Also, want to get lights that only mount at one point so I can aim them when I need to.

 

I have those lights for my camp lights. Work good.

 

Get the 6lz or whatever. The 6" bars. What mine are for rear lights. Look good

 

Nah, reverse lights will be on whatever bumper I get in the future.

 

Then I don't understand why you want lights handing off the rack facing backwards.

I say scrap that idea.

Wait till you get a rear bumper and swingout then mount a tripod leg on the swingout to extend up and over it to shine down on the tail gate/table area.

That's a camp light.

Not some lights at eye level blasting you in the face.

 

Seriously. Any more light than the 6lz puts out and it'd be annoying around camp. Most of the time I flip my camper door up to diffuse the light a bit. If you're strictly going for reverse lights, get the brightest you can afford. But around camp that's a tad annoying. However I think they are great reverse lights too with a ton of spread to them.
