2014 - early oil change?

    It's not new, it's not Mexico
    Using the search feature I found 499 threads on this subject or similar to it. I'd bet each thread has the SAME two opinions:
    1. Change it early & change it often because it's cheap insurance & nothings too good for my baby.
    2. Follow the manufacturers recommended intervals because oil & engine tolerances are better than in our Dad's day. Why throw away good oil?
    Is Toyota not giving out an owner's manual & maintenance schedule any more?

    On my WRX I did my first oil change at 1,000 miles because I knew that was the end of the break in period per Subaru and I knew how I would drive it from that point on so I wanted a good synthetic oil in her. On my Taco I have been using the Toyota Care plan (every 5k), but after that I plan to change my oil on my own per the owners manual eventually swapping her over to a synthetic oil too. Basically it comes down to how you want to feel your car is protected from how you drive it.
