I don’t find it that challenging or that much harder really. I have drove and parked my brothers ’11 a few times just fine. have not parallel parking it though.
1st gens are the same IMO.

I get this itch from time to time, and the only thing that quells it is the thought that my Taco is paid for, and getting a new full size truck would involve selling the Taco AND laying down an additional $20,000+. Screw that.

I love my Tacoma but I do wish I would have gotten the DCLB. It's more truck and I think they look the best lifted of all the Tacomas. I had a full size and although comfy they are a pain to park and get door dings easy.

Being stationed in Korea I haven't seen my Taco in almost 7 months because I wasn't autorized to have a personally owned vehicle in country.

So, at work here I get to drive a 2009 Chevy 2500 Reg Cab 4x2 6.0 V8 with a utility bed or a 2005 Chevy 3500 SRW 6.6 V8 Duramax Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4. I prefer the reg cab Chevy over the crew cab because it's more maneauverable. However, I would much rather be driving my own Tacoma. It's more reliable than either of the Chevy's we have and just a lot nicer to drive.

Also, when I go home I drive my dad's F150 from time to time. If I were to get a full size, it would be an F150. However, when I take my dad's truck to the store or anywhere in town, I'd much rather be driving my Tacoma.

I think that the Tacoma is the perfect size truck for me because it has a roomy back seat for my dog and/or passengers. Plenty of storage and can tow anything I need to.

    agreed.

The only reason I'd want a full size is for a diesel and solid axles. I have no legit reasons besides that.

Check out a double cab. I went from a nicely optioned Silverado 1500 extended cab to my DCSB with the V6 and couldn't be happier. Less power is the only downside, but I also won't be towing anything bigger than a 16-19ft light weight travel trailer.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
I have the same problem. i was debating between the taco and a 3/4 ton chevy with diesel before i bought my taco. i just couldn't justify having a full size truck and paying for diesel at the moment. i give it 5 years and i will buy a second truck that will be full size.

Looking at the specs, the 2014 Tundra is about 5.5" wider and 8" longer than the 2014 DCLB Tacoma.

http://www.toyota.com/content/ebrochure/2014/tundra_ebrochure.pdf Looks like the longest length on a 2014 Tundra is 229" no matter what configuration. Apparently the Tundra with the Crew Cab only comes in the 5 1/2 foot bed. I thought they were much bigger, they look bigger. Tundra still might be the smallest of the "full-size" trucks.

Hmmmm. I wonder if that is a misprint like the 37ft lbs for u bolts. Because the tundra is definitely larger than a tacoma. Even a double cab

I used to own the 1st gen Tundra, then upgrades to the 2nd gen Tundra. I sold it because it ate too much gas and was too big got my needs. Because I needed a truck, I decided to buy a Tacoma. The size and gas consumption is just right and feel that is enough truck for me.

I test drove a new 14 silverado. Don't like how it drives compared to the tacoma, but everything else is much better than the Tacoma. Just saying.

I wanted a midsize for specific reasons, mainly the type off-roading I do. Full size for me was too heavy and big, on trails maneuverability was always an issue and in the desert the added weight of a full size in the sand sucked.
Choose the truck that works best for you, you want a full size and will be happier with it get one.

I owned a 2010 Ram Crew Cab and there are many many things I miss about that truck. I loved the fact the back seat was roomy enough to camp in it. I loved the hemi...boy did I love that motor, especially with the tune. Nice road presence...but that said, I bought a Tacoma for a few reasons. One was the fact that overall, Tacoma is smaller, but not significantly where situations arise where the Ram could have done any better than the Tacoma. To me, my DCLB is closer to the Full Size segment than the Mini Truck segment on the mid size scale IMHO.

With a lift and some bigger tires, I feel like my truck can beat the road presence the Ram had, but then again, I got tired of having to back up into every spot because of the true size difference.

All in all, my biggest gripe about my truck is I wish it had more power. Is it adequate? Yes, without a doubt. But damned if Toyota couldn't have shoehorned in the 4.6 V8 into these trucks. A supercharger install for $5K was the difference between my Tacoma and a 2014 Silverado (ridiculous discounts lol).

TL,DR: If the truck does what you need it to, the reasons for getting a bigger truck should be extremely significant to warrant the cons of ownership.
