I love my YZ295/WR setup. Does everything really well.

That extra 50ccs makes a world of difference, I race in in Heavyweight class and whoop ass on the 450s unless its a long straightaway..thats where the 450 has the advantage.

I'm looking forward to having those extra cc's, even if I am losing some HP. I think the torque gain down low will definitely be evident in the woods. Sucks to be waiting on KTM for the next couple weeks though.

Oh, your not gonna lose any HP....flat out faster everywhere in the range.

If you see a power graph it can seem like you losing power but the torque increases down low and the HP rises up high so its a win win..

I just fired up my 295 last night, shes ready to race again, been racing the 2013 KX450f recently. next race is the 2 stroke!

Heres a shot from Saturdays race..

My 250 was far from stock. I'll be losing a pretty good amount. 300 SXS stock numbers are supposed to be about 51 horse. I was above 60 with the 250.

Porting and race gas cut head, and you will never look back! And I bet it will feel slower but you are actually going faster!

I have ridden plenty of mild to wild stock vs. modified.

The power with the larger bore is so much more usable, nice thing about the BB setup is you can lug it and it will still get you up the hill.
I have the all around porting and it comes on the pipe more smoothly as well which really makes the bike more tractable in technical riding since I do a lot of that.

The head work really livened up the 250, it always pulled so smooth and linear. I would say I can't wait to do the same with the 300 kit, but I'll probably just leave it stock and get a 350 XC-F for the woods. Pretty damn excited either way.

I had my old 250 ported it made much more useable power wise to me, Eric Gorr did it if I remember correctly.

My Yamaha is a 295 with his kit, also ported by him (Mo-betta all around porting), I just had him build me a new cylinder since my old one failed (Power valve popped out and broke the entire cylinder) They sent me a new one that wasnt machined right so it seized in 1.2 hours of assembly, bummer, just before a big Nationals race and had to use my KX450f instead and had a rough day since the suspension wasnt right yet.

After many phone calls and speaking with Eric Gorr himself they sent me another one I just put on about a week ago, they did a custom build and welded up the transfer ports thicker than normal since I race Hare and Hound type stuff normally. Also had the head re-domed even tighter for higher compression since I use only racing fuel.

I have about 4 minutes of run time on it so far and its about ready for the big race on the 14th of June.

At least it doesn't look like it's from 2005 anymore. :)

The current bike still won a 125 shootout Dirt Rider had in one of the latest issues. Beat the KTM and Husky.

As much as possible. I've been off the bike for a few months, but usually when I'm healthy I try to hit it once a week. It's kind of like home base for me.

Love seein all the smokers. Probably see a bunch of them this weekend. Out national dual sport ride usually has quite a few of them coming to town. I'm thinking next summer I'll invest in an orange 300
