If you ever go there (for recalls and such), try to deal with the service advisor Anthony DelDeo. Every other advisor is a d-bag. And the guy that does almost all of the frame replacement and coatings is a mechanic named Todd, who has been with them since the 80's. He really takes his time to do it right.

If I am unable get reimbursed, I am going to back to have a "frame coating" done, so I can get the plug kit, and so they can spray the frame underneath the hood. Just not the rest of the frame.
I actually already put some plugs in my frame (the two big rectangular holes in the front wheel wells). It would just be nice to get the rest of the holes plugged as well :D.

Well I used tape, and it hold up for past 4 years. Its cheap and effective. Plus aluminum tape also serves as sacrificial metal.

I assume the 2009 frames have the same holes that need plugs.Does anyone know for sure?

They do, I think Toyota started putting plugs in 2013 trucks in factory.

Does anybody know the part number for those plugs? It's probably something worth getting even if you aren't covered under the LSC.

Also, I haven't seen a definite answer on this thread: Is the coating they put on a rust paint or is it just oil/tar?

I was told that what they apply will never "harden" and will always be pliable to the touch. I'm guessing it's a rubber/petroleum based product?

Also, going back in this thread to jdvailco's photos, I did not see a single hole plugged in his pictures... Can anyone confirm their frame was plugged?

How long between when they took the pics and when you heard back that they would replace the frame?

I brought in the price I got from camelback to a dealer, and he was able to match the price ($3.22 I think). Funny thing is, I ordered other plugs that I thought would fit the holes, but they were too big. But the parts guy had a bag of plugs (the part number I said before), and he gave me those 4 as well as the ones I ordered. He told me they used the plugs with the 1st gen frame replacements.

All I can say is if the coating is what they used on the first gens I would rather pay someone to coat the frame using something besides tar.

Shit never dried, and anytime you were under the truck and brushed against anything it was all over you. Literally like roofing tar sprayed onto your frame, only at least that stuff kinda drys...

I have a Sequioa and my dad has a Tundra that Toyota wants to coat as part of similar campaigns, we absolutely refuse to have that stuff sprayed onto our frames.

Check with them to be sure, but I believe that if you refuse to do this and you have frame perf in the future, you will *not* get a new frame, no matter how hard you fight it. I'd hate to see anyone in that situation.

Our frames are in good shape, I am not worried. But you are correct.

;) Mine is a 2007 and appears to be in good shape too. But consider that the frame issue starts between the two sandwiched metal plates and the frame rots from the inside out. By the time there is perf and we can see it, it is too late. It will always look great until that rust finally surfaces.

Exterior, I cannot see a single problem. Since I cannot see between the sheets, I don't know if I have a problem.

The sad part is, everyone who says the coating fails to save the frame is 100% correct. It can't coat where the problem starts. It will never prevent the frame from rotting inside out.

My take on this? They are putting this shit on to mask the issue *just long enough* to cover their 15 year commitment. At that time, the frame will have rotted through but we cannot see it because of this coating, and when that falls off, time is up and we're SOL. They only want to mask the issue as a CYA.

I don't believe mine is bad as it all sounds absolutely solid with the hammer test. But I'm also selling it next year and getting a new 2015 TRD Pro so my worries will be over. :D
