    OK, not worth $150.

Depends.... for me they would be worth $200. But I've had really good success out of them. Others haven't had as good of success. For me it was worth not having to pull my lights apart and do a retrofit. I've done a BHLM on all my vehicles up to this one and it is nice to just do a plug and play mod that comes pretty close (in my case) to a retro without all the work that is entailed.

It really depends on what you want, what results you expect get and what you are willing to spend.

For me, $150 is chump change.

I also consider the following facts:

    1. I will most likely never need to change my bulbs ever again.
    2. These bulbs draw considerably less current than halogens.
    3. These bulbs run considerably cooler than halogens.
    4. These bulbs just look fantastic and have .......wait for it........wait for it......A LIFETIME WARRANTY

Try taking your 5 year old burnt out SilverStars
back to Autozone and see what kind of reaction
you get when you try to exchange them for a
new pair, for free!

$150 ??? Well worth it in my opinion ;)

Just curious, did you install them in the truck on your profile? Pre 2012?

some of this, a little of that

    Good for you? :notsure:

You also have to remember his truck is a 2006 and the output is not quite the same as the 2012 and up.

Well Damn....Someone needs to get a newer truck then.

This could be why some people are saying these don't throw as much light as halogens do. Mine seem to do quite well in the 2012 stock headlight housing. I'm quite happy with mine. :)

The $150 is chump change for me as well, but the lights are just not that good. 1, 2, and 3 on your list are correct and great. Number 4 "look fantastic" has issues on my 2006 truck. It is just "OK', not great or even good. The Lifetime warranty is nice, but will the company be in business in 2 years?

I'm sorry to hear they don't work as well in the older housings. This is probably due to the orientation of the LEDS and the viewing angle of the beam of light they emit. The low beam on halogens pretty much gives you a 180 degree pattern while the high beams give you a 360 degree pattern. The LEDs probably only give you a 120 to 160 degree pattern for both low and high beams. The usable output could vary greatly depending on the design of the reflector bowls in the housings. The older housing may squeeze out a little more light from the light emitted from the sides of the halogen bulbs.

LEDs are the future of ALL lighting. Incandescent, HID(High Intensity Discharge, CCFL(Compact Cool Fluorescent) are all old technologies, some of which are already in the process of being phased out. I've been messing around with LEDs for more than 30 years (shows my age ) and I have seen this coming for a long time.

Regarding the lifetime warranty and whether the company will be in business in 2 years, many LEDs used in industrial applications boast a 50,000 to 100,000 hour 1/2 life. This is 5 to 10 years of continuous 24-7 use. Of course "the light that burns twice as bright only burns half as long" rule still applies to LEDs. That's why they only claim a usable life of 30,000 hours. (Still a long time) Try leaving halogen headlights on 24-7 and see if they are still burning after 3 years. even if the company evaporates in the next 6 months, I am confident that these bulbs will last for a very long time.

LED lighting is becoming more widespread for many applications and improvements are still being made. Perhaps an improved version of these bulbs that more closely copies the beam pattern and performance of halogens while still providing the benefits of LEDs such as the lower current and heat characteristics and better color will be developed in the near future. The price of LED lighting will most likely come down as its use becomes more widespread.

Dang....you would think I'm selling these things.
    I'm just an LED enthusiast:D

I read about those. Pretty impressive, but I haven't seen what it does to the cost of the vehicle. And you know........Its just a matter of time before the aftermarket finds a way to weaponize them.

    Laser Headlights....Cool

    :laser::bananadead: Zaaaaappppp!!!!!

The "lasers" in these are still most likely LED based. It is also likely that these are not true lasers and just use optics, such as lenses to focus the beam into a tight spot pattern. A true "laser" produces a coherent beam of light in which all of the emitted light is the same wavelength and all of the waves are in phase with each other.

White light is comprised of many different wavelengths (colors) of light which are not in phase with each other so a white laser is not possible. Blue, red, green, yellow and any color in the rainbow sure, but not white.

Audi uses actual lasers to "ignite" phosphorous, which projects the beam.

Ok. Well that is a bit different then. Sounds more like a plasma type light source that still requires a lens to focus it into a tight beam pattern. Fluorescent tubes/bulbs use a high voltage arc inside the tube/bulb to achieve the same result. Using a laser just excites the phosphorus from the outside. Hell they could use high frequency radio waves too. Ever hold a fluorescent tube near a CB antenna while transmitting? :D

There is a Dr. Evil smilie...really? (That's awesome!)

So, back on topic...basically it looks like I'm fairly safe if I pull the trigger because I have a 2014, am I right?

Yes. I have a 2012 and I highly recommend the LED headlight as well as the LED fog light bulbs. I just used some bulb grease and also added an O-ring on the connectors between the bulb and the "ballast" to help prevent the connectors from loosening up and prevent water intrusion and corrosion.
