I've taken pictures like this at 6400 ISO, f3.5, 20 to 30 second exposure. You need a higher ISO.

 

Can't stack without trails, same as going more than 30s on a wide lens, unless you block out the foreground and manually rotate the images so they are all in the same position.

At that point, may as well just make multiple copies of one image and stack it with itself.

 

took your advise on the proportioning. not quite as colorful, but still fucking gorgeous.
kinda wanna add more saturation, but don't want to make it look overcooked

I've been fiddling with the camera to find settings that work in the sunset light, but these colors only last for 4-5 minutes max, so I haven't been able to really dial it in. The grain has been bugging the ever-living shit out of me, and I'm not even gonna pretend like I know what the fuck I'm doing

ill try that the next time there's a good one..I'll also use my damn tripod instead of running out to my balcony wearing a towel. hahaha

Equatorial mount. Composite image. That's what I thought.

I dug around a little. Looks like the photographer is Tom Lowe and this might be a part of a timelapse called "Crystal Skies". I could be wrong because this image shows up in a lot of places. It's a cool timelapse either way.

Here's a tutorial on processing for the MW that shows you processing in PS using masks and layers.

 

Nah anything over 30sec makes trails.

Foreground layer sure.

Well then really high elevation, I'd say 8-12,000' and little or no light pollution and high iso.

 

I'm going with full frame and processing on that MW shot. Full frame handles the higher ISO a lot better than our crop sensors. Knowing what your doing in photoshop helps a lot too.

In fact check with TheMuffinMan on here. He's into astrophotography he might can answer better. I believe I've also seen some shots similar to that from Colin (TacoColin I believe) and Jacob (THXEY). Maybe see if they could give any better ideas.

Trying to keep up with the times by using the #s

I signed up for the weekend long course. :/ Though i'm sure there is plenty i actually don't know yet...i'm just a hard to convince, cocky teenager.

I plan to get the permit before the weekend of the class. That way i have my feet a little more wet so to speak.

I am still trying to find the perfect DRZ but bills are coming first right now :'( and i had a dash bulb burn out on the taco, found them on Amazon and ended up ordering more shit than just the bulbs silly me, silly amazon. That prime shipping es so tempting....
