    just wondered cause I have already drained my oil.. realized all I have is 5w-20 and can't go to the store to get 5w-30 ..well cause I have no oil in my truck..

    5w-20 is a lighter viscosity oil, so unless you are heavy off-roader or pulling heavy loads frequently, it's really no different than 5w-30, both have the same properties at operating temps, 5w 30 is just better suited when running your engine harder, increases longevity.

    It's funny how oil viscosity has changed over the years for the newer vehicles (gotten lighter). Years ago (80's & early 90's) everybody ran 10w-40 or even 20w-50 for high mileage motors.
