I want to get some good shop and wiring books. Is the Toyota OEM stuff best? I found that in the BMW motorcycle world, OEM not so great. Haines, Chilton, others? eBay listing for the '09 books are sparse, I guess because not old enough yet.
Still trying to get Cruise in this thing, and expect I will end up messing with other options later on also, once I find a reasonable wiring connector source.

The info contained in TW can probably answer most if not all of your questions, unless you definitely want a book...

It's not new, it's not Mexico
The Toyota manuals are the most comprehensive & pricy. IF I was serious about working on my own truck (I'm not), that's what I would get. Manuals won't yell at you to use the search feature.

There's certainly some truth to this

Haynes and Chilton manuals summarized for every make and model ever created:

    1. Remove all parts necessary to access broken part
    2. Remove and replace broken part
    3. Reassemble in reverse order

That's about how helpful I've found them to be....

Of course, some of them contain capacities and torque specs, but those can usually be found on the interwebs too

I have a Haynes manual and it's full of errors. One that comes to mind is the method to check the ATF.
I could probably start a thread about how useless that book is but it would be long and boring.

If you're keeping the vehicle a while and looking to do the work yourself, get an official shop manual... I wish I did.

Thanks for the comments! I plan to keep it and do my own work, so I will pay for the Toyota books. Some for the 2009+ on eBay are over $100, which is why I asked!
That archive link above has a great Factory Service Manuals collection in PDF. Newest so far is 2007, which may be good. It will be a good place to cross check things.
