TSB for 2010

hey guys, i just picked up a 2010 yesterday, and i was wondering if any of you might happen to know if toyota fixed this for this year? thanks

 

Yea, there is a good number of TSB's... Though if I were to venture a guess, I presume you mean the 3pack vs 4pack of leafs. Easiest way to look is look under the truck's rear, if there's 3 leafs, or 4...

 

They could also use thicker leaves, or ones with different spring rates. They probably didn't, but they *could*.

 

ok, i just checked my truck today, and there is only 3 leaf springs.

The last year updated to the TSB was '08. The '09 guys are still having problems getting it done, but some have had some luck. You can view, download all the TSB's using the following link:

What seems to work the best thus far is try to get a decent load (say about 800lbs) and show up to your dealer, request a ride with the manager and/or tech to confirm the harsh ride. They may work with you, may not. If they don't, call Toyota corporate and start a claim. That way, even if its' denied... when/if Toyota accepts the '10 for the TSB and you're out of the warranty period they may still do your truck as it was a documented issue within the period.

I'd be interested to have you check the part numbers on those springs. We could compare them to the part numbers for the previous years to see if you have the same problem.

Part numbers are on a sticker on the top of the springs. It's not hard to see.

Do you have a yellow sticker in the drivers side door jam?

I would say get a custom spring shop to fabricate you some springs and put them on, it wont be that much money for me it was 400 canadian, should be a lot less in the states,

 

would it be easier to get the TSB with or without the sticker? does it even matter?

 

Are you already carrying loads heavy enough to bottom out the rear suspension?

 

Doesn't really matter...Your truck is an 09 and not directly covered by the TSB...Take it to a dealership and see what they have to say tho...

 

So all this talk about the rear springs has made me paranoid about the springs on my 2010 DC Sport. I have three leaves with the lowest being about twice as thick as the upper two. I also have the sticker on the door but it states that the modifications have changed the capacity from "0" to "0"? So I am guessing that the thickened third leaf was the fix? Or was it always that way? Any TSB survivors out there?

 

Doubt they "fixed" the springs. That overload leaf has been like that. Check the part numbers against the TSB and then talk to the dealership about it...

Just wanted to bump this thread.... So do the 2010's have rear leaf spring issues?

 

I bought an O9 prerunner v6 in august, manufactured in July of 08 at nummi, less than two weeks later I call Toyota corporate and complain of a "harsh ride" - that the truck had "bottoming out" issues. All my part numbers matched the TSB. I never mentioned Tacomaworld, I don't think toyota's a fan of the site. Service Mgr questioned me minamally on the phone- mostly pressing that the resolve would give me a "firmer ride" that would be more truck-like, he said. "That's what I bought". The springs and shocks, front and back, were on and ready for the desert by labor day. There is a ride difference and I can understand how some p-, some owners might find the adjustment disparaging to the tuckus, but the invoice said $1338 and I said thanks. Tacomaworld made it possible.

for 2010, look at the tsb part #'s and friggin, do it. I'm totally confident that if I ever have to move an elephant my truck can handle it.

 

Only to the extent the rest of the 05+ do. They didn't change anything.
