Andy, honestly, this whole engine swap keeps me on my toes with swapping this and replacing that. The real pain is the extras transmission cooler hard lines that you gave me won't work for the V6. Bummer. I only need one. Anyway, I am ready to be done with this sweet little jewel and get to selling my truck. I have decided to leave mine the way it is and sell it outright, don't feel like swapping any more parts. A few more weeks and it will be back in running condition and I have buddy who is looking for a pickup now that may buy my extra cab. We'll see.

It would seem. There was a good deal of hair in the back.

Yeah it's a bit nerve racking. Quite an undertaking with work and growing family. That would be awesome to sell other truck easily as long as buddy discount is reasonable. Those lines were from reg. cab.(duh). Hope things finish smoothly for you man. I will keep checking! GL

Obviously you didn't read post from the start. His new truck is almost done. He also has researched beforehand. Maybe you should take a 2nd job to learn how to negotiate forum and threads.haha

So the jdm engine doesn't have an oil cooler like the usdm one does. Another reason I am stoked to have the other engine as a reference. That thing was full of sludge, I was really shocked how bad it was. I cleaned out the pan as best I could as well as the front sump pickup. Pickup is in the correct motor now and I will set the oil pan next weekend while finishing up the transmission solenoid swaps. What is the solenoid at the rear left on the transmission. The donor had one plug type and the existing tranny had another. It has some wires connedted to it and it looks like I have to drop the pan to get to it.

Hey Brandon! Are you referring to park/neutral position switch? Reverse light plug?

It turns out the solenoid/sensor/plug I am talking about is the shift solenoid wire plug. V6 VB uses 4 solenoids and 4 cyl VB (valve body) uses 3. Looks like I could just swap the two, but I am finding that rather daunting at this point. The guys said it was driving when it died, so lets just hope that it still works and will continue on just a fluid refill. In the meantime, I will keep my eye out for another V6 trans to swap the two while on a bench and not holding up my brothers garage, since he just got a new 4runner project.

    Grrrrrrr.

Looks like the original transmission will go back in and we will hold our breath for that. Maybe it works. Maybe I drop again in a few months for a rebuilt. We'll see.

Maybe Andy. There is a couple of differences, one of which is the throttle cable. Just gotta figure it out I guess.

Well the engine and trans are back in as of yesterday, today is family day.

They came out together, but had to be separated to go back in. Pain in the neck, oh well it was the smart thing to do.

Hey Brandon! Why did you have to put back in separately? Can't say much because I put everything back in 1 piece and now I have to buy new y-pipe. Can't get that pos to stop obnoxious small exhaust leak.lol

Andy I couldn't get it to fit with the two together. It may have gone, if we could've gotten the radiator support out. But that doesn't seem too removable. It would've taken half the time if we would've started seperate.

Did you use an engine hoist with leveler?

Hoist, but no leveler. We had to kinda pry it to get the trans in tangled at the tunnel on the way out. It was just easier and it was the way the book says and probably took less time than wrestling it into place and feeling awkward/dangerous. Next major tool will be a trans jack though. I see at least one more clutch being done by my brother on his new whip (95 4runner V6 5-speed) and it would be soooooooo much nicer than an undersized floor jack.

Yeah could never have been able to do on my setup without the leveler. I used it to take it out and put back!Who reads books anyway.(or directions) haha
