The temps have come up a bit.

However, if anyone is looking for a great car camping bag, I highly recommend any of the Big Agnes Park line sleeping bags.

    https://www.bigagnes.com/Products/Detail/Bag/elkpark-20

^^^^^^^^^^ That's the one I have, it's super roomy. I got the long version even though I'm 5'8". However, I do get to stretch my arms all the way out when I sleep and they're still inside the bag.

I got it on sale for $130.

For those that don't know about Big Agnes bags, they're super well designed. They actually don't have any insulation on the bottom of the bag, the reasoning behind that is that once you lay down, the insulation is useless since it gets crushed flat. Instead, they have a pocket for you to place a sleeping pad inside, which ends up securing it to the bag so you side sleepers never fall off the pad.

Proper sleeping requires you to have a sleeping pad, not an air mattress.

There is a common misconception that an air mattress is a good thing to use when camping. Those single wall, single chamber air mattresses do nothing but suck out heat from your body and circulate it to the ground beneath you.

The correct multi-chamber, foam (closed or open cell) sleeping pad is what you need to insulate yourself from the ground.

Looks like a guys weekend for me as well. GF is heading down to the north Bay to her parents and for her grandpa's 80th bday so it'll just be me and my GSD, and Traction120 should be following me down as well. We're making the trip Saturday morning. What time do people expect to start wheeling? 8:30 or so?

Oh i don't think we will be wheeling until 9:30 or 10:00 I'm sure. 9:00 just to play it safe would be good.

Where there's the pullout area and you can go down and across the creek? Or before that?

Hey guys, if you haven't done so already, post up when you plan on leaving for Slick Rock. I'm sure there are some folks that will want to caravan but don't know when everyone else is leaving.

I'll try to update the OP with this info

Here are some pics of where we camped last time

    our rigs along the trail
    [IMG]

just past our vehicle is a small ledge, where down below we set up the camp fire
    [IMG]

And for those wondering how to get to that area, from HWY 4 you'll see the turn off for Lake Alpine on your right (just past Bear Valley ski resort). When you enter Lake Alpine, stay right and you'll see the trail head:

Go through this area and you'll eventually see our trucks in the area in the pic above
