Thanks Zachary, that is sound advice. The most offroading I do know is some beach driving on the OuterBanks here in NC. With 192K on the OEM springs and Leaf pack they could probably stand to be replaced anyway. I've made up my mind to drive this truck till 300K or when it's Totaled.

Thanks for the input, I'll look into the Eibach 620 springs (i beleive set on .85) maybe the leaf pack swap later this year. I'll put some before with the hockey pucks and after with shiny new parts!

This is all correct but I have one thing to say, I don't think Eibach coils will provide you with 2.5" lift. That is only if you set the 5100s to .85". Eibachs are said to give 1.6" of lift, while OME 884s are said to give 2", and 885 coils I believe is somewhere between 2.5" and 3". 886 coils are for trucks with heavy offroad bumpers.

Thanks for the info Chopper. I can get the Eibach 620's for $150 shipped I'll go with them and set to .85 on the shocks. Then new tie rods and an alignment.

As far as 1st gens go, they do provide 2.5"...then again, he doesn't have a 1st gen.

Good luck! Also I would get some opinions on preloading. I heard preloading is bad for ride which is why I am buying 884s instead of Eibachs. Just be sure before you buy. The extra lift of the 884s lets you not preload and get 2" still.

My bad, I forgot you drove a 1st gen.

I have heard ride at 2.5 is a little bumpier than stock. I would look into coils. I am unsure of what is better, preloading .85"+1.6" eibachs, or ride at 2.5. I would assume preloading.

I haven't lifted my truck yet I am just relaying weeks of research

I agree..for a long term lift go with coils...I'm only doing my setting cause they are half life in them...no reason to replace yet

How much life do 5100s generally have? I think the ones I will be putting on have about 10k on them

You can easily get 100,000+ out of them. Hell, my father-in-law still has his stock shocks on his '87 Toyota pickup and they're not 5100-quality

Yeah I am running stock shocks on my lowered setup and am about to hit 100K, so I figured the 5100s should do at least that. Thanks

Not sure I was terrified since everyone says its stiff but I seriously don't rock back and forth like a boat after a bump that throws you around ...now its just a slight shake and its over...granted they aren't brand new ones but very impressed that I got 3 5/8 inch lift in front
