Didn't buy it, but just was given/inherited a like-new XD chambered in 9mm. Can't say that I can beat the gun for the price; free!

Itching for range time and don't have any wide-open places to go like when I was back home. Everyone's public range stories frighten me a tad...okay, a LOT. Sounds like I need to find one or find a friend with some land!

Just find one that has safety officials that keep an eye on everyone and be extremely vigilante of the people around you.

Yup, the last time I shot on a range it was to shoot trap, but that gets expensive.

The range I shoot at (only one available to me without driving over an hour) is rather close to a local college (va tech if your wondering), and college student are very stupid. I have seen (or heard rather) and round being fired while one of my group was still down range. He has had it happen to him enough times he stood up calmly and walked back to the line (about 30 yards) walked over to the guy and proceeded to rip into him about range safety.

A plate carrier would probably a good idea where I shoot lol

I just building my own range, really nice not having to worry about the idiots. It should be done in a week or two

I'm actually thinking about setting up a makeshift 3 gun course for myself, for those of you that have competed what kind of distances would I be looking at for the rifle sections of it? I've got a bunch of steel targets that are going up. And don't know what distances to put them at. I know I'm setting up a hand gun section and basing it on hicock45's range (from YouTube). I've got a few steel plates as we'll as a dueling tree and a Texas star (looking forward to setting that up).

I refuse to shoot at private ranges any longer. An inexperienced shooter next to me turned around and had a loaded pistol pointed down the firing line. They didn't fire but the potential was there. The RSO gave them an earful but they were still allowed to stay. That was the last time I set foot in a public range. I jointed a private range shortly after.

Broke my gun purchasing virginity today. Put a Sig p250c .40 on layaway this morning :D gonna pick it up in the next week or 2. I have an older single action .45 revolver that my old man gave me a couple years ago but decided it was time for a nice upgrade. Process was easier than going to walmart for groceries.
    God bless Wyoming:oldglory:
