Great thanks guys. I'm pretty much brand new to the long travel scene and have been reading as much as possible. These parts add up to be about $8.5k. Will a SUA kit require a bed cage? I don't know how to weld  so I'll have to pay someone to build one for me.

Also, what else am I not taking into consideration as far as building costs? I'd like to make the truck as derp-proof as possible since I'll be a very inexperienced driver. Gusseted everything, double-sheared UCA bolt, etc. How much do improvements like this cost, roughly?

Learn to weld good and they won't cost much at all :p

I'd budget 10-12k if your gonna do it all at once.

SUA will either need some big hoops or bed cage yes if you want to pull serious LT numbers. With the 16s you have in your plan, definitely will need a cage.

Okay great. Where can I go to do some research on leaf packs? What packs are people running and not breaking these days?

With all of that you should do a bed cage, and an engine cage, and a cab cage. ($5K or so) Good skidplates. Maybe bigger tires and lower gears. You should call DMZ or your favorite fab shop and talk to them. Figure $20K for a solid LT build, more if you link it and get a better axle, less if you DIY. Deaver H70's are pretty good if you are planning dual spares and a little more weight back there. F67's if you like the saggy butt look.

That's a little outside my O-1 pay grade. I think I'll be doing this in stages. If you had to break it into three stages over a 5 year time frame of $5k-$7k per stage how would you do it?

But don't be stupid while you don't have a cage.

    Rear first.

    Front next

    Cage after

Bed cage will go with rear

    Engine cage with front

Rear first, huh? I was definitely expecting to hear front. What's the reasoning there?

General rule of thumb is you want the rear to out perform the front. Reason being is a bad rear setup will buck you all over hell and gone.

The rear will make you buck and not be able to utilize the front at all. If you do the rear first you will be able to utilize more of it.

Yea even if you put on a mid travel front for temporary sake you'd have more fun in it.

Yup. Lots of these were caused by the dreaded wheelbarrow donkey kick of doom.

That was a very painful video. If I want to keep doing stuff like this I think I should upgrade.

With front MT and rear LT can I still do hooligan stuff like this?

I was actually trying to be the voice of reason and talk about doing it safely. Most around here would argue as I'm not the best to talk safety with less speed. Lol i have stood mine on its bumper and got lucky it didn't flip.

Safety no, but we do have "Accelerate Your Life"

I'm gonna go with that one.
