    While doing the reverse camera mod on my Taco this weekend, I damaged the plastic surround where I installed the toggle. I was trying to be careful but the plastic was very soft;

    Looking at the pictures below, can anyone suggest a repair approach, at least to lessen the appearance a bit. I considered;

    1. Sanding down the edges, try to make it look like a gradual slope.
    2. Plumbers putty or wood putty tinted in a similar color
    3. Replacing the dash piece (Yikes $220)

    I'm open to suggestions, thanks!

    I didn't even notice the damage until I lloked at the second pic with the red circle. I say leave it. You can hardly notice it. I'm sure there is more damage to come.

    On a serious note, It happens i'd just file it in the "ignore it column."

    If it really bothers you, buy a bigger switch that will cover the whole hole :thumbsup: :)

    Wow! Loved all the responses, Thanks. Yes to the OCD thing...until the dealer quoted $200 plus. I'd still like to hide it a bit...its only a few weeks old.

    I thought the repair question was due to that hideous switch, not the tiny little ding in the grey plastic.

    Use an exacto blade to trim the ding down and then very carefully sand the entire panel to blend in the ding. Might not be able to get rid of it all BUT it will not ping your OCD near as much...... LOL

    That's where i'm leaning. If i can find a slightly over sized switch, problem solved.

    Some stuff...
    Try some Testors Contour Putty (http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/151170907553?lpid=82), it's a couple of bucks at any hobby store and works well to fill in plastic, etc. The only problem you may have is color matching (I think the stuff is gray last time I used it).

    Me personally I'd just chalk it up as a battle scar and roll with it.

    Gave the plastic a bit of a massage. I'm satisfied....until I find a nice SPDT switch.

    I'm kinda jealous of you... I wish I had problems like that to worry about.;)

    Just kidding. Your fix now looks fine. Drive your truck and forget about the small stuff.:)

    Thanks all, I know all this OCD stuff can be annoying but i plan to drive this for the next ten years. On a side note, this forum is terrific...after 11 years of Xterra ownership, it was difficult to find an active forum. Aloha
