My only input was about after the fact... should the guy have been there?! no... he was trying to help, but no he shouldn't have done it... BUT the guy almost got run over, the flipant response to somone being that close to being seriously injured/killed, was the only thing I held issue with.

Both guys thought they were doing something ok... arguments can be made for both... but the potential injury/death of a fellow enthusiast is not something to be taken lightly and dismissed.

I don't know him, never met him... but have no doubt regardless of how Noah feels about the guy/situation now, he'd have felt like complete shit if he had actually hit the guy.

This is a first post in this thread, but I found it just after searching for commentary regarding the video.

The spotter was wrong... no doubt about it. You drove as if he was in the position he was standing in originally. You aren't at fault for his actions... I will say you dropped into the crack too quickly, but that's you driving and your truck - part of wheeling, and still nothing linked to the spotter. That's the end of your fault and what you 'can be blamed for'. Cheers - you deserve a beer after a fun day of wheeling.

I can't find fault for the driver in regard to 'endangering' the spotter.

My 3rd party analysis: I'm assuming other rigs had already gone through the similar line. There was one spotter, who really didnt appear to be surveying the whole line/route/other side of the truck. Yes, the back end lifted rather quickly, but it looks like it did peak before the point of rollover anyway. If anything, the gas was smart (only post-facto of going into the drop too quickly) as it shifted the loads and brought the truck back down, which if it were approaching roll-over, would have saved it...

In regard for putting someone at risk ? - That fault goes 100% to the spotter.

Looks like everything has died down...Noah went off his instinct, and Jason went off his...right or wrong, it happened.

That thread isn't going to be a big bashing event...

Had fun meeting a few of you in Moab!

Even if the event gets cancelled for next year, a group of us can still go. I rather go either earlier in May or later in June anyway. Those cedar gnats were BAD!

Noah you know you have my support!, I shot most of that footage.

Anyone interested in about 50ish off-road magazines (Petersons 4wheel and offroad, 4WD mag, etc) standing from the late 90s to about 2008? Really hate to throw them away because they are pretty cool to look at. Free

I just got the pelican. IMO I think it is better built "if possible" and it is cheaper. Costco sells them...

How big is this pelican and how much was it? Similar performance?

    Hell yeah! Front or rear?

Side note-Do you realize that when we did bill Moore you were the first person I went wheeling with and it was my first time wheeling the truck? It has come a ways since then. I kinda went ape shit for a while there actually.

    Yeah I remember that!

Pelican is the same size but more true to their 45Q size where as Yeti is actually smaller than 45... . Costco sells the 35 for like 200. I got this one for 180 and it was on CL new. "45Qt. They have the same rating as 7-10 ice and the reviews are great.

Rear. with the same gears... I wish I had the money but I would have to stop all my other money pit hobbies... but, I've been running LSD the whole time. so this should be an improvement either way...

Funny that they rag on you......

I have been wheeling for almost 20 years now. Started out mild and progressed up through extreme 4wheeling and am now back to normal mild 4wheeling. After years of wheeling and competition one thing I always tell new people, never try and stop/assist a vehicle with your body. If you must, disconnect yourself with a rope. Never enter the path of a moving vehicle, high or slow speed.

I also coach new drivers on what I have learned. One of the many things is a similar situation to what you went through. When you feel the vehicle get light, turn into it and lightly throttle through. You do not stop (if you know the line ahead of time, more basics, don't throttle into never never land), roll or accelerate lightly through. If you hit the brakes, it will cause more weight transfer/shift and possibly cause the roll. Now this is hard to describe on the internets and works better in person.

It is unfortunate that this is a hard learning experience. I'm glad Jberry was not injured. You have to understand, he did risk himself for your truck, there is value there. Some will feel is actions were correct and will lash out. Some will lash back the other way. It doesn't make a difference, get over it, I hope he does to. Next year, have a beer or soda with each other and talk about it.

This next year I hope there is drivers meeting with some basic instruction. Though, with that and waivers it starts to loose the gathering feel and becomes more of an event.

One thing I try and follow, I might have a ton of experience, there is always more to lean from, in 4wheeling and life.
