I agree so far. When people fear something instinct comes into play, simple as that. Easiest thing to do about "dangerous items" is the get rid of them. So I understand the initial reaction going on.

Sadly this is not the action that I feel needs to be taken. As y'all have already said, making something illegal will not stop those that want to use them for harm from getting them. I do agree that to an extent, however, that it will make it harder for them. But, this is not enough.

Instead, I feel that we should better educate everybody on gun safety so that everybody can see how safe they are in the proper hands of upstanding citizens trying to keep their selves and their families safe from those that want to do harm.

Negative. Criminals will ALWAYS have more weapons than we can even image...no matter the laws.

 

Yes and no. There are gun laws out there that I agree with.

Remember how in school they always had those drug free weeks where they'd do a bunch of stuff to show how drugs are bad? I say do that with gun safety.

I like that idea, but unfortunately I feel like there are many parents out there that overpower public schools and would go irate if this was introduced. Yes, you could institute a permission form but I don't know if even that would be enough to make some people happy. This is all speculation though and I could be completely wrong

Agreed. I had a neighbor in AZ who got scared just looking at a gun. She would literally shiver in fear when one was somewhat close to her. When I would hang out with her and other neighbors she would always ask me to not sit next to her because she was scared my gun would "go off". I carried a Glock 19 btw.

 

They do that sometimes you know...just randomly start going off and shooting people

My fiancee is a recovering liberal.

 

I had a friend like that. She'd get mad if we carried in her house because she was afraid we'd shoot her dog. Also was one of those people that believed that a gun would go off if left in a hot car. She hated guns and funny enough she's in the army. I had to deliver something to her once when she was on duty during a city emergency and she had a pistol strapped to her leg. I asked her about it and she shrugged and said "it is what it is" lol

 

My neighbor was really dumb when it came to guns. She didn't know anything about them but was scared of them and hated them.
I did something a little irresponsible once to show her that guns don't just go off. I took out my glock (round already chambered) and dropped it on the lawn from above my head. She screamed and ran for cover. I asked her if she heard the gun go off. She said no. I asked her if she felt foolish for screaming and running for cover. She said no. I said well you should.
I take full responsibility for mishandling a firearm and apologize for it.
