Man that sucks! Mine got keyed when it was still new in a the parking lot outside my (low life) apt. I always thought that was such a chicken sh*t thing to do. I have been guilty of shoving a few pieces of freshly chewed guy under some idiot's door handle when they parked to out of their spot that I couldn't get into my truck from the drivers side....But hey, I didn't screw up someone's truck...

The state of this nation. Over stressed and broke. I never do "close quarters" I always try to park next to a cart storage site, or 1st parking stall next to the end, and in this way one of my sides is protected.

I don't think the home depot cams will help. You may be able to see the crime but very unlikely to have use able evidence especially at night. I sell cameras for the largest commercial security company in the world.

I advise against parking near the cart corral. I have seen too many people just give the carts a push towards it and walk away without regard to where it might go. I have also seen where the corrals get so backed up that carts are everywhere around the site. I have not seen it but I suppose the cart person could bang against your vehicle too.

That really sucks, I'm losing faith in humanity as of lately.

I found a golf ball sized dent in my rear fender (above the flare) yesterday. No note, nothing. Gotta call PDR now.

Hope you can get your scratches fixed without too much hassle and $$$.

probably not keyed likely a piece of lumber dragged across as someone was loading up

keyed would gouge it worse than you describe, but even gentle dragging with a branch will put a white stripe in the clearcoat. go offroad and hit some bushes it pinstripes like no ones business

People are jacked up, with no regards for anyone elses property but their own. I had my drop down trailer hitch receiver, ball AND MASTER LOCK PIN stolen off of my truck while it was parked in my carport the other day. I'm out $30 which isn't much, it's concerning that they had matching key or a master key to just take it off of my truck and walk off.

    Some stuff...
^^^This, but chances are the Depot won't let you as John Q. Citizen see their footage without a subpoena or SW (search warrant) unless you can really sweet talk them. Enter your local PD or SO, who have the authority and can obtain either/or if needed. (Most of the time, a uniform guy walking in there asking to see the feeds is sufficient.) The only caveat is, finding a LEO who is willing to do the legwork on this (it's petty in the grand scheme of things, but still a crime that needs to be pursued). Good luck though, like I said it's an asshole thing to do. :(

Lol, and here I thought I was the only one who did this! :D

    Ditto.

I'll park in the back of the lot to get an end-space if there are only single spots unless they are wide spaces.
End spot protects one side, and allows you to get the tires right up on the curb or line to get you an extra foot on your unprotected side.

You would be pissed if you knew how many "locks" are all keyed alike.

I have four handgun and rifle cases. Same manufacturer, same key opens all of them.
The cable locks that have a padlock mechanism used as "trigger locks"?
All of them are the same key.

The sole purpose of most locks is to keep honest people honest and eliminate the "crime of opportunity" or curiosity.

Sorry to hear this. I had a BMW Z3 that got keyed. The hardware store had no cameras and noone saw it (or would admit to seeing it). Sucks.

Thanks everyone for your kind suggestions, I haven't had a chance to do anything. I see there are a few products that might help.. I went to do the fingernail test and the scratch isn't that deep. nevertheless, it's obvious, on both sides and on all lenses!!! WTF??

I'm sorry to hear about you guys that have been vandalized as well. It's such a dick thing to do, I swear where I live, people get away with murder, but not road rage.. lol.

I will update here once I get something done , I hope it can be buffed out. I can't imagine doing that to someones vehicle without a reason.. BIG reason. I am calling HD now.

Sucks but you'll be fine OP. A few years ago I went into a subway at night for 5 minutes. Came out and someone backed into my car, damaged the passenger door pretty badly and just took off. Not in my Tacoma either, a little more rare Toyota but I prefer not to say.

I feel you man, I had my truck parked on the road outside my apartment last weekend. When I went out to get in it, I saw three huge scratches going down the passenger door. I was so fucking pissed. There are a bunch of douchebag little kids in the area that ride their bikes, so I'm sure one of them crashed into it, and shat their pants. The worst part is, that my alarm system did the "warning" beep, and I was sitting on the couch. I looked out, and couldn't see my truck, and was just waking up, so i didnt go out to see it. I will from now on though... I was so fucking mad.

^^^ Damn that just makes me so mad!! And there is nothing to do about it..

So I have an update, I called HD where my truck was parked, and was told to get ahold of the 'LOSS AND PREVENTION" department.. so I did, spoke with someone and now they are investigating it.. I hope to hell they have video of it! Wouldnt that just be the ultimate redemption to send a squad car to their house , they would shit ! Me thinks they have done it before!!! I would press full on charges!

RSOXFAN1 - thanks for that meguirs link, stuff looks totally awesome and I think will use it if nothing comes of my investigation !

Meguiar's Ultimate compound works wonders. I used it and it covers up 90% of pin striping from branches and brush.
