Is a bigger number or smaller number better? This site is so confusing.

I love it when magazine readers post a pile of statistics they have no knowledge of. Its a waist of time trying to explain over the internet to those who just don't have the experience. And every word posted just makes it more apparent that there is a vast lack of knowledge.

It was touch and go but I made it to the station without hitting anything. Had to run a couple red lights because of my weak OE brakes but got her parked after hitting the curb.

The Jeep can out brake a Tacoma all day. Magazines say the jeep has one of the worst stopping distances, but I can assure you, they are wrong.

LOL!! That's why I posted. Hell.......First time I had to come to a quick stop in the Jeep, I realized I wasn't stopping as fast as I would have been in the Taco, I smashed the brake peddle, and every one at the light watched as I flew past the crosswalk.

I'll actually post a non sarcastic response. The only thing that I notice with my brakes (with my 2011 and my 2013) is the first stop after starting the truck. It seems the brakes are a slight bit more "touchy" (for lack of a better word). It seems as if I don't have to put as much pressure the first time I touch the brake pedal for the first stop. After that, every time feels exactly the same with the same amount of pressure and I never feel as if the truck lacks in the braking department.

    Curbs help too

I have no complaints with my brakes. I tow 5000 lbs with my new trailer and the Tacoma handles it no problem.

I've drove pretty much every light duty truck for work (I scout field crops), and none of them have the "perfect "feel. In my experience the light truck companies invest in making a braking system that is the best fit for the truck in any given situation, but not the best in a specific situation. Cars have better brakes because they are built for flat pavement set weight conditions. Trucks are built for a wider variety of load and surface conditions so I can understand why the brakes never seem perfect.

Also, drums in the rear rock! Seriously, my 2010 F-150 FX4 needed 3 sets of rotors in 60,000 miles. If you drive gravel you will get rocks in the rear rotors. Sure, most of the time you can hear them but sometimes you won't. Then it's new rotor time :(. My new 2014 Dodge SLT 4x4 is doing the same thing. I never have to worry about that problem with my Tacoma.

As for this thread, if the OP wants a better feel then changing the brake lines to steel braided is not a bad way to go. If he needs more stopping power, new "truck" pads from EBC are badass and he may as well change to some nicer rotors. The last thing I'd do is a Tundra brake swap. That's a ton of time and if you reuse parts you're asking for a shorter lifespan braking system IMHO.

I've always wanted to see a truck with the front end from Brembo installed on a Tacoma.... BITCHIN

My brakes suck. Fuck you Toyota for making such a shitty truck. I know I test drove it and actually purchased it knowing full well that the brakes were shit. But it is still your fault that I made a poor decision and you will pay.... Oh.... You will pay!!!!! Muuhahahahaha
