Had my 2009 DC SR5 4x4 at the dealership for correction of a radio (satellite) issue. Had mentioned to my salesman that I wanted to pursue the suspension TSB. When I called to check status they told me they were almost done with the suspension! Nice suprise. New leafs and Bilstein shocks all the way round. I like the ride better now.

you have a better chance of winning the lotto than just mentioning the tsb and having it done. hahaha
the horror stories far outweigh these great stories. but good to hear there are still good dealerships out there.

I'm pretty sure I could mathematically prove your statement wrong...but I'm enjoying this lemonade and my dinner too much. Just because there is only ONE thread about "Dealers Who Did the TSB" and a TON about people who are upset that they are out of warranty or have an 09/10 truck doesn't mean it's impossible to get the TSB.

This is a great demonstration for the power of asking...Insted of pitching a fit...Just talk to the service writer like a person and see what happens. Call corporate etc etc etc if that doesn't work.

Glad it worked out so flawlessly for the OP- altho...You did check the springs right?? My dealership told me they were doing mine same day too...and they just replaced the stock springs with the same type of springs...Just a new set.

Congrats on your TSB surprise. I have a 2009 DBL Cab 4X4 TRD Off Road SR5. I'm still pretty new to this, but I did drop off my truck today to have the TSB done.:)

true brunes, true. unfortunitly, i asked first, to be told they never heard of any rear suspensions problems. they even told me there would be a tsb out if there was any problems. ????? this is the same dealer (northtown toyota, ny ) that also told me they never heard of any problems with the radios in the 2009s !!!!
so i had to go customer service manager, service manager, corporate case number.
then they even still wanted me to load up the bed for it to be looked at.
in not a nice manner i explained how i was not going to do anything for a known problem with a tsb for the last four years.
now that i finally have a quality truck, got the tsb done finally ( even got the radio replaced) i will not be going back there ever.
but even after all that, still love my toyota

I thought i saw a thread where 09's were not part of the recall. I had an issue with Corp. as well, they are worthless & you have no one over a case manager to go to. That sucks!

2009's are not part of the tsb, but part of your vin number may be. i also stated how the actual part number of the springs are listed.

First thing I did upon arrival at the dealer was to look under the truck, after having read posts like your here previously.
Was relieved to see the 4 leafs. truck is definately a bit higher in the rear now, but I guess that will settle down.

Purchase new 2010 DC LB sport 4x4 Mag Grey. After reading about the TSB I saw it had the three pac and sure enough it did. So I checked the part nuumber on the leafs and they matched the ones to be replaced on the TSB. Much to my displeasure, now Its something to have to deal with. I am due a free oil change at the dealer so when that comes around I will bring up the TSB with them then. I also have the sticker in the door jam. It says 0 lbs. Isn't that great.

Just came home from dealer. TSB was done right. 4 leaf pack. 4 new bils. 2009 DC 4x4 base model. I followed all the advice that I found here and everything went smooth. I started with an e-mail to toyota. Toyota contacted the dealer for me via e-mail and about a week later got a call from the dealer saying parts were in and when can i get in there. I was a little skeptical so when i arrived i brought a copy of the TSB with me. While standing at the counter I noticed the work order and stapled to it was a copy of the TSB. I gave them the benifit of the doubt and they did a nice job. They even gave me a 2010 Camry to take home for the night free. It really improved the ride IMO. It also feels a little raised up. Nice n tight. Best dealer experience i have ever had. Good luck to all with this. Its worth it IMO even if you dont haul that often.............................. So is my Tacoma a little Canadien now? LOL

The 2009 dbl cab TRD Sport 4x2 is included in the recall. I got a reply to my email from Toyota today.

Is this the same TSB as the 08's had? If so why didn't Toyota fix it before the 09't came out. I also wonder if they had this similar issue in 08 why was it not corrected for the 09's?

It wasn't "fixed" because for many of the people who drive Tacoma's it's not a problem. The softer "bad" springs provide a nicer ride in many folks opinons and they don't miss the lost capacity or don't mind trading it off for the softer ride.

It's cheaper for Toyota to fix on a case by case the folks who notice their truck bottoming out while they are being used than to over haul the entire product line. (including throwing out a ton of pre-made 3 pack springs and ramping up production of 4 packs and dealing with the backlash from making a major change like that).

The TSB is not a recall. It's an advisory notice to technicians to correct a problem. But the customer has to notify Toyota of the problem.
