welds are looking pretty good!

 

Me and Leo hit kaena today. There is a pretty cool hill climb right after hidden beach. You have to drive past this little bay, and drive down onto and across a loose rocky beach, and then make a right turn up a pretty steep hill and immediately break to the left as soon as you hit the top. If you can make it up
I was able to do a nice slow crawl up it in 4lo with ATRAC on, but it started slipping at the top and I had to give it some good revs to break over the top. Nobody was around to film it tho
next time...

Kinda sounds like Black Rocks I went through with Ryan and Miles.

It's a small cove between hidden beach and the big bowl shaped cove with the ledge you can jump off of. It's a black rock beach and you drive just above the waters edge.

 

Thanks! My pipe welding skills still suck. But they look worse than they are. The ones that look crazy cold look that way because they were multiple pass welds. Most of the gussets look pretty nice though

Sounds like the hill I went up and almost went over the cliff Turn left and stop right at the top or be sorry..

 

It's probably higher and steeper than that one nate, but if you don't turn left at the top, you just would go into some bushes.

I hit two of those same obstacles with my drive shaft...near that same place too.

 

I forgot to ask Sunday. You got that all fixed now yeah?

 

Well.....super weird. The very specific vibration and knocking while reversing just disappeared!
I did straighten out the skid plate and look for more damage underneth the truck but that's it.

 

So drive shaft wasn't it? No need to fix then I guess

Im installing Maxtrac spindles, OME Dakar leaf pack, and adjusting my 5100s. I wanted to do it myself at the hobby shop on base but Ive been reading that it takes the average guy around 8 hours to install and not sure if ill be able to finish by the time they close. I don't really know how to install the extended brake lines either so Im leaning more towards taking it to a shop to have it done. DH customs is booked till Aug and you guys keep saying don't let 4WP touch it so what about Maui Offroad or any other places?

 

Depends if you need it all done at the same time or if you have piece it all togeher.

I would probably take care of the:

1. Lines
2. Dakars
3. Front end

Number 1 and 2 could probably swap, but definitely 3 last.

Definitely someone here could help you with the lines, dakars and spindles are easy enough if you got food and beer, and possibly tools... A place to do the install helps too, I got the street in front of my house..

 

Yeah, Ryan texted me the video. Same spot. The waves were just making it to my tire tho because of the high tide. You are brave turning down that thing blind tho!
Were you guys aired down? I had 42psi in the fronts when I went up it

 

Nope no air down 40 psi.
