Taco making WaWaWa sound???

I have 2006 Taco Quad cab Pre Runner. I've JUST past the 62K mile mark. My truck has started making a loud WaWaWa sound that I can actually feel when I drive it and I've noticed a decrease in gas mileage. My tires have always had a slight hum, due to them being slightly knobby, but I don't think that's the problem. Any ideas before I take it to a local dealer.

I was experiencing the same thing on my 03. I took it to my local toyota/lexus specialist. They ended up replacing one of my rear wheel bearings. I picked it up today, no more noise.

Good point ^^^ a wheel bearing will make the noise you describe and the sound will change in pitch when you veer to the left or right

Try rotaing your tires and have them inspected. One could be slightly out of round?

Like stated above, wheel bearing or tire noise most likely. Has anyone had any luck diagnosing a bad wheel bearing using an infared thermometer?

Oh...never mind.

 

Never tried that. I just jack it up and check for play in the wheel. Never been wrong using that method.
