Hey Everyone, I want to get my 2003 Tacoma re-painted, as of right now it is Impulse Red. I want to get it re-painted to a dark blue color, like nautical blue or metallic blue. I was wondering if you guys think it would look good. Thanks.

Wrap it in vinyl and if you don't like it, then peel it off. Would be a lot cheaper too.

I love my custom blue. Dodge Viper Blue Pearl with the addition of .008" Patriot Blue flake and .004" Cobalt blue flake. Looks SICK when the sun hits it on a bright day.

Kind of reminds me of Paradise Blue Metallic

Which I always thought was too fruity of a blue, even for me.

    This is like.

Red to blue is tough. The engine bay and door jams will all need to be painted or it will look weird. And between the cab and the box along with anywhere else that can be seen but hard to reach.
IMO you are better sticking with red unless you have some serious coin to get it done right.

The shop is borderline turquoise I think

To the OP, you could also consider doing a vinyl wrap.

Red to blue is a bit of a challenge. Mine was black, and when I did the work I stripped the body and bed down, pulled out all of the glass and removed all of the door trim, etc. You can't tell it was ever black. I even painted the entire back of the cab and front of the bed. Since it was originally black, leaving the engine bay black actually looks good in my case, but I agree that red to blue will make the engine bay look ..... different.

Good paint is expensive. Probably a lot more than you want to put into your truck. Might want to consider trading instead. If you choose a lousy paint job, you have just de-valued your ride quite a bit.

    This^^^

Paint is something you want to do right. A nice wrap or maybe even a full dip of your car sounds like its the best way to go, plus you can always go back to stock if you need/want to.

Agreed. Black is much more forgiving for sure. A black engine bay or black under the carpet edges doesn't look out of place at all.
Problem with engine bays is they are generally dirty and grimey. You cant get paint to stick to all that crap so the only real way to paint an engine bay is to remove the engine, clean the hell out of everything, then paint it.

Was considering wraping or dipping mine when I get it in good mechanical shape. What colors would go good with tan interior?
