Mine came with instructions, but it is a very straightforward install. Unscrew and unbolt a few things, and put them on again.

i got the 5300 from the guy in canada as well. Easy install, unclipping the wire harness from the camera took some delicate work, but i got it. I am happy with the product thus far. The only thing i had to do was to relocate the camera wire in the tail gate- the lock re-positions that camera to the left side of the handle. I just cut some tape and used plastic ties to adjust for this. I also sealed the inside of the new lock to prevent any water/dirt from getting into my tailgate.

Hey, when you say tape and ties. Was this just to secure the wires to the inside of the gate? OR do you have to cut something? Also, please explain how you sealed the new lock?

    Thanks!

Tape and ties- to secure wires inside the gate
I cut the tape off the factory wire mounts and then replace with some tape and ties. I had to do this because the camera was moved to the other side of the handle and the wire was not long enough with the existing wire mounts. I think there are pictures somewhere on this site...

As far as sealing-I found that there was a slight gap at the bottom of the handle. To prevent water from getting in, i put a small bead of silicone on the inside of the handle.

With the 8520 you dont have to move the camera around at all. Everything stays on the right side. But it is also electronic not lock and key

Just ordered one from the local truck accessories store. They said they would install it for $25.00. I think that is reasonable. They said it would take 2 weeks to come in as they are on back order.

Thanks again guys. Yeah I think I'll try the install first. If I run into trouble I'll ask you guys and I'll post pics. If I can't get it working then, I'll just ask the store to install it.

I installed mine. Not hard at all, just take your time. The instructions were very good, except they do not say you have to move the wiring in the tailgate to accomodate for the camera being on the other side of the handle. No cutting or splicing of the wires, just moving them around a bit inside the tailgate.

it is a bit stiffer to open. I find that it opens easier pulling up rather than out. The stock handle is opposite...

Where is it rubbing the paint? The sides or top???

I gotta agree. I installed mine today and I'm a bit disappointed with the quality. The fit is just a touch off, many of the edges have loose plastic hanging off them, and the lip above the handle isn't straight like it should be (you can see that in Monarch's first picture.) Doesn't have the smooth feel that the OEM handle does, either.
