I have transferred the same cover from my old truck (2007 AC)...

I like the soft tonneau... keeps everything dry, I can still use the rails, and roll back the cover whenever I need to haul bigger things...

It's all about what you need it for

I coach Hockey and consistently drive several kids to and from practice and games. With the winters in Chicago being what they are it helps to keep the equipment dry and easily accessible.

If I haul anything bigger I just pop the top !

A.R.E. MX model with a little extra height so I don't hit my head and, with the extra height, I installed a bracket to keep the sticks up and out of the way.
Mounted on a '05 Pre runner DC short bed took a little getting used to but am very happy with the performance.Drove to Minnesota and Ohio this summer and no issues to speak of.

Arctic bull bar, hitch step, side bars (All by Avid Off Road!), BHLM, eye lids....
I have the BakFlip and am a HUGE fan of it. It folds back and offers protection for my back window for large loads (no more shmashed windows!); having a hard tonneau is also good for a locking tailgate - prevents easy access / theft of items in the bed; you get improved fuel mileage with a tonneau as there is less drag on the truck; you get a winter in PA... winter == snow == weight == increase in mpg...

My preference is a tonneau hard, then soft.. or naked w/o tailgate.

    Just the basics
On my 99 I had a Snugtop tonneau. On the 09 I have the Undercover. I can stand on it when need be for photography, lay on top of it, keep it open and sit under it for some shade, provides security for stuff I leave in the back like chairs.

I tried a well used cap on my 90 toyota and didn't care for the reduction in visibility. They are great but not for me.

It really all depends on what you plan to use your truck for.

I currently have an Extang Trifecta on my Taco which is great as it keeps stuff dry and comes off real easy. That being said recently I had to haul a ton of tools up to the cottage, a 7 hour drive, in the rain. We ended up having to leave a bunch of stuff behind because they would not fit and we did not want them to get soaked during the drive. So, to sum up, I am looking at getting a cap for the truck so I can haul that crap around and not worry about the elements.

This goes down with Velcro right? Im stuck between this cover and the trifecta. I cant decide which to use. I haul about 4-5 loads of dirt and gravel and mulch every year. If anything gets in this velcro, will it be useless? I know when velcro gets dirty, it dont stick anymore.

And for those guys with a trifecta, Can you fold it up to cover your back glass to have full access to your bed, or do you have to take it off completely?
