Yeah don't go to 4wp asking about nitro. They will tell u they don't exist. Haha I tried to get them to install them and I had 1 dude tell me "I've been working on Toyota's for 20 years and have never heard of nitro gears." Then I went and got them out of my truck to make a scene in front of some other customers cause they tried to make me look stupid, and all he had to say was "well I've never heard of them. They must be crappy parts and we don't install crappy parts." Haha some good dudes up in that store

I'm thinking about ordering complete assembled 3rds from ECGS. Opinions?

Seems to cost about the same, maybe cheaper depending on what I sell my stock 3rds for. It's also a heck of a less pain in the arse and I don't really trust but one guy local and he's backed up for over a month and my DD can't be down that long.

Stock gearing on 35's here :woot:

If u get complete thirds from ecgs, they will want ur old ones as cores. Which is the cheapest way to do it. Plus doing the work yourself. Saves a lot on labor

They are going to be extremely similar in the end. I wanted to paint mine a darker tan like yours and you beat me to it, so I'll have to find another color. Lol probably white, but I plan to do all the body work, tear it down to paint inside the cab and engine bay and between the bed, and actually spray it and clear coat it forreal. That way i can justify crying when I mess it up. My uncle paints cars so were gonna do it hopefully. These are very long term plans though.

Is yours RUF or just a lift spring? I can't remember what the PO did.

I've got to get a good DD after I get this thing on 35s.

Forgot about cores and I just looked at it  by doing the work do you mean installing the thirds? I fully plan to do that myself.

Haha don't do tan too! I was going to do OD green but wanted to do something a little different so I went tan. I plan on doing my door jambs one day, maybe when I finish my half doors but I'm not touching anything else.

Yes, I've got rears up front. I can't tell you which leaf is which since I didn't build them but I'm thinking of adding another leaf since I've got a pretty bad lean to the drivers side.

And as far as my thirds go, I plan on trying to do all the work (shimming, torque, etc) myself (and by myself I mean me and my neighbor lol). I dd the Tacoma so I can take all the time I want to get the thirds setup right.

Well I DD my '81 so I don't have time to fiddle with the gears. Could I do it? Yeah, but it's gonna take me long enough to get my lift on and I just can't have my truck down that long especially in the summer when work is booming.

i wouldnt do it. Too easy to fuck up and being a dd, if your tolerances are slightly off, you will explode your diffs in a very short time period. ECGS is a really good deal. Id go that way. Most shops charge $400 an diff for just install. I had my gears already and sent them to ECGS to get installed and my bill was $462 or something like that. So basically half price as a normal shop. I also had both diffs back in 6 days

oh ...... well I was confused then. I thought you were asking if you could set up the gears yourself. I see what you said now
