    I had found a smittybuilt for around 300.00 shipped from Amazon. and had read where some people divorced the solenoids themselves and sealed them with silicon

    I did. They all seemed to push out to about the $1,700 mark. I'm sure I could get a deal eventually if I waited long enough. Unfortunately for my wallet, I'm not a patient person when I see something I want.

    How much time do you have wrapped into it? Might want to make some new power cords from the solenoid to the winch.

    about an hour breaking it down to see what it needed.

    maybe 2hrs researching/ordering parts online

    about an hour cleaning and inspecting the line

    prob about an hour of sanding/painting left to be done.

    final assembly should be a breeze.

    I'm sealing it off at the vents and running a breather to it.

    Even their 'waterproof' versions have vents that suck water and mud. one of my banned buddys just has his implode from water submersion

    From my understanding it is removing the solenoid and placing it in the engine bay or even in the cab. Am I correct ?
